Audrey Leighton – travel blogger

Every other week, Discover Walks will share with some great insight from Travel bloggers from around the world who fell in love with Paris. They will share their favorites addresses and things to do while in Paris. Because genuine advice and stories are so important to us, in addition to our born-and-raised Parisian tour stories, we now bring you real advice from fellow travelers.

Bonjour Audrey, can you tell us more about who you are?

My name is Audrey Leighton, I am 28 year old forever expat, originally from the USA but I left when I was 8. Now I live between Barcelona and Paris.

Why did you start writing befrassy?

I started Frassy as a creative outlet back when I was studying at University. My degree felt too rigid and so the blog became my more whimsical escape. That was almost a decade ago and since then it’s all become my full time profession.

Why did you start traveling?

I started traveling mostly for my photography, there is nothing I adore more than shooting in a new city. Living in Europe means there is so much variety only an hour or two away, I vowed a while back to always take advantage of that and to be consistent in my exploration of new places. Saying that I do work a lot so that hinders a lot of the venturing I would love to be doing right now.

What’s special about your blog?

I suppose my writing is what makes my blog special. I have always felt an affinity towards written expression so I do try to amplify my content with real, honest stories from my life.

What would be your top 3 things to do in Paris?

Paris, oh it is one of my beloved cities. I’d say a jaunt to Bir Hakeim, the best view of the Eiffel in the opinion followed by a coffee in Palais Royal at Cafe Kitsune and finally, shopping on Rue Saint Honoré, undeniably the most chic street of the city.

Your favorite landmark in Paris?

Cliched, of course but undeniably the Eiffel Tower. Living away from Paris has given me an even more zealous appreciation for that monument!

What is your favorite neighborhood in Paris?

My favourite neighbourhood in Paris is probably Saint Germain. It is where I called home for many years and still the quaintest to me.

Could you give us your recommendation to first timers in Paris?

My recommendation for first time visitors, bring comfortable clothes with an elasticated waistband and eat everything. The food in France is a dream and definitely one of the biggest joys Paris has to offer!
