One Thing That Can Hinder Wembanyama’s NBA Success Revealed
Victor Wembanyama is the highest prospect to ever declare for the NBA draft and the world can’t stop wondering how he will fare when he finally joins the NBA.
He is projected to be the first overall pick in the upcoming draft set for Thursday, June 22, 2023, and with the San Antonio Spurs having the chance to pick first it’s safe to say that San Antonio could be Victor’s possible destination.
Coming into the NBA in his red-hot form after averaging 21.6 points per game with 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.1 blocks the entire season, Victor will be looking to extend his prowess to the NBA.
Right after the draft lottery held on May 16, 2023, happened and the Spurs got the first pick, Wembanyama promised to hop in quickly and win a ring ASAP.
Wembanyama was asked what the Spurs will get when they pick him in an interview with ESPN shortly after the Spurs were awarded the top overall pick.
He said,” Aah, you know… team player, I am gonna make everything to win as many games as I can and I am tryna win a ring ASAP so be ready.”
All eyes are set on the prize but the latest revelations say otherwise, there is something that could stop Wembanyama from reaching his goals.
Talking to TMZ Sports, former basketball player Gilbert Arenas said, “If he has that much hype on him, then he’s really probably that good.
What I have seen from him… is you know, you have a generational game changer with the height, the ability to move, the only concern I do have is you know guys that big you know, with feet problem.
That’s the only thing I think will slow him down his feet. Other than that, as long as he’s healthy, I don’t see anyone really stopping the progression in his dominance.”
This a matter of concern from the former point guard who touches on a sensitive subject that has been a point of discussion about Wembanyama.
Tall players with Wembanyama’s build durability have been questioned for some time with their careers being injury-prone forcing an early retirement.
So far, Wembanyama hasn’t had any foot injuries and he will be looking to stay that way until he gets to the NBA.
Gilbert refutes claims that Wembanyama will find it difficult playing against much stronger players saying,” Am sure everyone he’s been playing with has been stronger than him and look who he is.”
Victor’s feet might be what could stop him from the shine that awaits him but as of now, things seem for the 7 ‘4” French phenom.
With everything in consideration, we are sure Wemby’s team has everything to avoid what could be a catastrophe that might delay his progress.
A lucky team will be ushering into the franchise Wembanyama come June 22, 2023, and we can’t wait to see how he fairs once he gets there.
