French Phenom Is Not Surprised By What’s Happening To Him
From humble beginnings to being one of two of the highest prospected NBA basketball players in the history of the NBA, Victor is on a high road to success.
All roads are now pointing to the NBA for the 19-year-old French international as he is keen to take over the NBA by storm.
Victor’s hype has been compared to the one LeBron James got back in 2003 and he stands alongside LeBron as the only draft prospect to have such hype surrounding them.
LeBron James has gone ahead to have a successful career and he is currently a reputable figure on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Victor is set to follow in the same footsteps as he has already conquered France being a cornerstone to the Metropolitans 92 Franchise in the LNB Pro A.
The team will finish second just behind Monaco thanks to Wembanyama’s pursuits that led them to the top as he has been averaging 21.3 points, pulling down 10.0 rebounds, and blocking 2.7 shots per game.
With all the attention Victor has been getting both internationally and locally, some might look at it just like an overnight success.
Everything might have come around so fast, culminating in him leading the race to be drafted as the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
At least that is what we thought for a long but the 19-year-old says that he has been expecting everything that has been happening to him lately.
Speaking to AP News’s Tim Reynolds in October Victor said, “I was built for this, I guess. All of what happens to me, I expected for myself. So it’s just a checklist of expectations. I’m not surprised by what’s happening to me.
And yeah, this is happening, this is how I can manage it and I think I managed it well.”
So far so good for Victor as he is managing it well. The buzz does not seem to slow him down and his upward trajectory is expected to rise even further.
It is undeniable that wherever Wembanyama gets drafted, he will be up and running quickly.
His stature gives him the advantage over ordinary players and this makes him stand out among his peers.
It makes sense that Victor, who is 7’4″, has an 8-foot wingspan, and shoots the three-point arc with accuracy, will go first overall in the draft. He is, however, well-known for both his talent and his general playing style.
Due to his alien-like height, Victor is bound to find it easier to complete some tasks that other players cannot.
Due to his strong ball-handling skills and quick first step, he can outrun the defence despite his tall stature and make the shot. His shooting is precise and lethal beyond the arc so he is going to be just fine.
June 22, 2023, will see Victor join an NBA franchise and his star is set to shine even brighter. We are in for a ride given that the young lad is prepared and knows what to expect once he is there after all it’s just a checklist of his expectations.
