French Prodigy On The Verge Of Leading Metropolitans 92 To First-Ever French Title

Leaving Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 without a complete resume does not look like Wembanyama’s plan for his final days.

The lad is putting in all he got to ensure he is at his peak when leaving his current team at the helm of the French LNB Pro A.

Victor has been instrumental in ensuring the team performs as well as it is doing, averaging 21.6 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game and 3.1 blocks per game to ensure they finish second in the league just behind Monaco.

His contribution has now extended to the playoffs in which he has been key to ensuring the Metropolitans get to the finals which they did after a hard-fought victory against Wembanyama’s former team, ASVEL.

In the quarter-finals, Metropolitans outplayed Cholet basketball to get to the semifinals in which they faced ASVEL, a team that is very familiar to Wembanyama.

In the 2021- 2022 season before joining Metropolitans 92, he played for ASVEL, a team owned by legendary NBA player Tony Parker.

That season with ASVEL, he became a Pro A champion even after sitting out due to injury.

This season’s first game was played on May 28, 2023, in which Metropolitans won 75-69.

The second game saw Metropolitans edge out ASVEL with three points and presented the Metropolitans 92 with a 2-0 lead on May 30, 2023.

In game 3, ASVEL came out guns blazing and scorched Metropolitans 86-59 to keep their hopes alive for the finals going into game 4 with a 2-1 advantage.

Game four did not go as ASVEL had wished in which a Wembanyama-led Metropolitans 92 maintained their good form to win 71-69.

This is all that was needed to ensure Metropolitans 92 cruised past ASVEL in a best of five to proceed to the finals in which they are set to face Monaco basketball.

Wembanyama’s pursuits have played a critical role in ensuring the Metropolitans survive and proceed to the finals.

In game 4 against ASVEL, Wembanyama managed to score 15 points and attain eight rebounds but what stood out as most impressive is his 5 blocks that if at all the basket went in, could have tipped the scales to give ASVEL an edge over Metropolitans 92.

This year’s finals are the first time Metropolitans 92 get a chance to play their first-ever Pro A finals in France.

On the other hand, Monaco has been in good form having edged out ASVEL to win the French Basketball Cup earlier this season.

We cannot count out Metropolitans 92 and now that they have a 7’4” generational talent in Wembanyama, things look to be going on the right track.

Wembanyama will be looking to cap off his time in France with a Pro A championship and what a way that will be when he makes an entrance to the NBA come June 22, 2023.

At the moment, the San Antonio Spurs have the highest probability of picking Wembanyama as they have the first overall pick in the draft and with Wembanyama being the surefire number one pick it is a match for sure.

We just have to wait and see how things pan out in the finals before we follow Wembanyama’s career in the NBA.

Metropolitans 92 are slated to face Monaco on Sat May June 2023 for their game one to determine who will be the winner of the finals for a chance to be crowned the French national champion.
