Prague is gearing up for a bustling summer of air travel as Vaclav Havel Airport Prague unveils its expanded summer schedule, boasting an impressive array of new routes and bolstered frequencies. This summer, travellers can look forward to an influx of new direct flights connecting Prague to a diverse array of destinations, both near and far.
More Cities, More Options
Among the highlights are fresh links to cities like Astana, Tallinn, Florence, Verona, Izmir, La Palma, and Ponta Delgada. Meanwhile, established routes such as London, Antalya, Paris, Amsterdam, and Milan are being reinforced with increased frequencies to major hubs
The expanded summer schedule took effect from March 31st of this year, with new services rolling out weekly. In total, 68 airlines will be operating flights to and from Prague Airport, offering direct connectivity to an impressive 167 destinations worldwide. The enhanced schedule represents a significant milestone in Prague Airport’s recovery from the pandemic-induced travel slump.
“Long-haul routes to Asia and North America remain a priority for further developing our air connections,” notes Jiri Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors. “We’re in active negotiations to launch regular flights to cities like Hanoi, Beijing, Delhi, Bangkok, and New York – destinations with immense potential for inbound tourism, business travel, and cargo transport.”
Reaching New Heights in Global Connectivity
Nine fresh routes are being added for summer 2024, whisking passengers to diverse destinations like Astana, Tallinn, Poznan, Brindisi, Ponta Delgada, Florence, Verona, Izmir, and Chisinau. On existing routes, increased frequencies by newcomers like easyJet, Ryanair, and Eurowings will inject greater capacity and schedule flexibility.
“Long-haul links to Asia and North America remain a key priority as we negotiate potential services to cities like Hanoi, Beijing, Delhi, Bangkok, and New York,” declared Jiri Pos, Chairman of Prague Airport’s Board of Directors.
The airport is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for new routes. Cities in Europe like Vilnius, Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Zagreb are also being actively evaluated to cater to evolving passenger demands.

A Resurgence of Travel Demand
After a robust 2023 which saw 13.8 million passengers, over 29% higher than 2022, Prague Airport is bracing for another year of double-digit growth. More than 15.5 million flyers are expected to take to the skies from the Czech capital this year.
Jiri Vyskoc, Executive Director of Aviation Business, highlighted the remarkable recovery, “While the Ukraine conflict has temporarily suspended 16 routes from Russia and neighbouring nations, we’ve already surpassed our pre-pandemic 2019 figures thanks to new airlines and destinations added over the past year.”
This resurgence has been catalysed by pent-up travel demand and Prague’s undeniable appeal as a tourism hotspot. The airport’s introduction of exotic winter charters to Colombo, Phu Quoc and Santa Clara is a testament to catering to wanderlust-struck travellers.
Investments to Elevate the Passenger Experience
To accommodate the surge in traffic, the airport is implementing a modest 5.8% rise in its Departing Passenger Service Charge to 697* CZK. However, this fee remains below the European average as Prague strives to offer affordable, world-class aviation services.
Passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours prior to departure and familiarise themselves with travel requirements for their destinations. As this historic city takes flight with its aviation ambitions, one thing is clear – an unforgettable summer of travel opportunities awaits those passing through Prague Airport.
