Filippo and Filippino Lippi were father-and-son artists whose pieces of art put them on top of the world during the fifteenth century in Rome. The duo bridged the early and high Renaissance, blending evolving trends with ancient art. Today, the people of Rome are celebrating these two artists with an exhibition that will honor these men’s legacy. The exhibition began on May 15 and will continue until August 25, giving people in Rome, visitors, and tourists a chance to learn about these two special artists in Roman history.
The exhibition titled Ingenuity and Bizarreness in Renaissance Art looks back into the lives of this family dynasty, featuring some of their most famous works.
According to Wanted in Rome, the exhibition features Filippo Lippi’s Madonna Trivulzio, which came from Castello Sforzasco in Milan.
On top of his art are his son’s pieces of art that will take you back in time to the fifteenth century. Filippino Lippi, primarily trained by his father, has a series of beautiful pieces of art that are on display.
You will find Filippino’s important drawings that vividly tell you about his relationship with his father when he was being molded into an artist. After his father died in 1469, Filippino was trained by Sandro Botticelli.
While in Rome, head to the Palazzo Caffarelli, which is a section of the Capitoline museums where you will find pieces of art on display.
