Raheem Sterling  left out of England’s squad for their next Euro 2024 qualifiers

Euro 2024 qualifiers taking place next month but Chelsea star Raheem Sterling may be Excluded

One of the major exclusions from England’s roster for the Euro qualifiers may be Raheem Sterling.

For the back-to-back matches against Malta and North Macedonia on June 16 and 19, respectively, Gareth Southgate picks his team on Wednesday. In order to conclude the season on a positive note and maintain their qualifying for 2024, Southgate wants his star players to report up.
However, injuries and a decline in form have complicated Sterling’s difficult first season at Chelsea. On Sunday, Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland attended Chelsea’s loss to Manchester City. The injury kept Sterling out of England’s final two qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine, but Southgate made it plain that he would have picked him had he been fit.

Although Southgate has not made a decision yet, he is tight with Sterling and last year, before their Nations League playoff games, showed sympathy for Jordan Henderson of Liverpool. In addition to giving players a break who he knows he can count on, England manager Southgate will also monitor the injury status of a few players who have endured demanding seasons.

Due to his belief that players like Harry Kane are essential and his desire to make the most of his time with the players by having them all attend team meetings, Southgate is unlikely to make many significant changes to his lineup for the two games. The qualifying matchup between North Macedonia and Malta will likely be considered one of the tough matches.

North Macedonia defeated Italy in the World Cup play-offs and defeated Germany two years ago, and they also defeated England in their two prior home matches.

The English players from Manchester City, notably Kyle Walker, John Stones, Jack Grealish, and Kalvin Phillips, won’t arrive until after the June 10 Champions League final. The same is true for Declan Rice of West Ham, who will participate in the Europa Conference League championship game.

At the conclusion of the Premier League season, England players who are not competing in Europe or the FA Cup final will have a brief break before rejoining the team. Callum Wilson of Newcastle and Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa will compete for a spot in the lineup now that Ivan Toney of Brentford has been suspended. Lewis Dunk of Brighton is requesting a recall.

However, Levi Colwill, Jacob Ramsey, and Morgan Gibbs-White will likely practice with the under-21 team with the seniors at St. George’s Park this summer in preparation for the Championships.
