Paris Increases Security Measures Following Assaults on Australian Media personnel and Tourist
In a disturbing turn of events, two Australian TV crew members were assaulted near Le Bourget, a suburb northeast of the French capital. The two Australian crew members were attacked by assailants attempting to steal a backpack as reported by Metro.
Despite the ordeal, they managed to escape without sustaining serious harm. Channel 9 reporter Christine Ahern expressed concern over the incident, stating, “This is a cause of concern for everyone, not just us here at Channel 9.” She described the attack as “quite a significant assault” and confirmed that while the victims were shaken, they had returned to work ahead of Friday’s Opening Ceremony.
This incident follows closely on another distressing event in Paris. ABP Live has recently revealed that just a day earlier, a 25-year-old Australian tourist was reportedly gang-raped by five men during the early hours of Sunday morning. The victim sought safety at Dounia Kebab, situated near the Moulin Rouge on Boulevard de Clichy, as captured in publicly released CCTV footage.
