Travelers between Prague, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Dresden will no longer have to book train connections between these regions. The International train company European Sleeper will launch a single connection between Prague and these four European capitals on March 25, 2024.
The official launch of this route will begin in Brussels on March 25, where select press, trade, government officials, and partners will board the train and arrive in Prague the next day. On 26th March, the train will mark its first departure to Amsterdam and Brussels from Prague.
This route addresses the struggle that passengers have had to endure in connecting different trains across these destinations. Another benefit for passengers is the transformation of lengthy distances into an overnight journey. This will allow passengers to travel efficiently as they sleep.
The route also offers travelers from other parts like London and Paris a direct connection to Prague from Brussels. Cyclists and hiking enthusiasts will need not travel to Prague for hiking adventures. With a bike carriage on the train, they can enjoy, a cycling trip along the Elbe Cycle Path or a hiking adventure on the Czech Switzerland Crest Trail from Czechia’s Děčín City on the way.
This expansion of the night train network is one of the European Union’s commitment to broaden cross-border rail connections. It also seeks to promote eco-friendly alternatives to short-haul flights.
The Czech Minister of Transport, Martin Kupka, commented: “Night trains are now making a comeback all over Europe and I am very glad that the Czech Republic is not left behind. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to air transport, which confirms that rail will play an increasingly important role in the future”.
Future Plans For More Connections
In a continuing effort to expand its destination offering, the European Sleeper has plans for winter night train operations between Amsterdam and the French Alps. The company is also working to launch a new route connecting Amsterdam, Brussels, and Barcelona in the coming years. To ensure passengers’ comfort onboard, they look forward to increasing the number of sleeping cars to enhance the travel experience.
Passengers can enjoy this connection of Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden, and Prague starting 25 March 2024. Prices range from €49 for a seat and €79 for a couchette. The couchette carriages add comfort to the travel experience of the night passengers.
