The Sintra Festival kicks off on 13th June, 2024, and is set to run till 23rd June. Directed by Martim Sousa Tavares, the festival will tour various parts of the town, offering music shows, family-friendly film screenings, concerts, walks and more.  This year, the festival is back for its second edition after a successful run in 2023.

As it commences on 13th, participants will be treated to a concert featuring Cuban singer Ana Carla Maza and cello, pianist Norman Peplow. This is will be at the National Palace of Sintra, from 9.30 pm. On 14th, the fun continues with the sounds of klezmer music by the duo, Fran and Flora at Adega Regional de Colares.

Other musical experiences to look out for include a concert walk by the cello quartet of Goncalo Lelis, Marco Pereira, Hugo Paiva, and Martin Henneken. They will walk to the Santa Eufemia viewpoint  at sunrise ( around 5.00).

Participants will also be treated to cinema. The Pianist, by Roman Polanski, will be shown at Olga Cadaval Cultural Center on June 15th, at 3 pm. Entry is free. At 7 pm, a concert performance of Chopin’s works in the film will follow.

The churches of Sintra are not left out either. Music will resound in the Parish Church of Colares on June 14th, and at Santa Maria Church on 15th. Performances will be by the Ludovice Ensemble and the Officium Ensemble in the venues respectively. Entry is free.
