Barcelona is not only renowned for its appealing architecture, ranging from numerous Gothic-style buildings to architectural masterpieces, but it is also celebrated for its culinary prowess.

This aspect has not gone unnoticed, as the MICHELIN Guide has recognized over 15 hotels in the city and awarded them the coveted MICHELIN Keys.

The MICHELIN Key concept is a novel distinction introduced by the MICHELIN Guide in April 2024. Similar to the famous MICHELIN Star, which recognizes the most outstanding restaurants worldwide, the MICHELIN Key acknowledges exceptional hotels that offer an unparalleled experience.

In Barcelona, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a two-key establishment when you check into the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona in Catalonia, one of the 11 Spanish hotels that received this prestigious two-key recognition.

In addition to the two-key hotel, Barcelona is home to 15 hotels that received one Key, including Almanac Barcelona, Seventy Barcelona, Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa, ABaC Restaurant & Hotel, Mercer Hotel Barcelona, Soho House Barcelona, Hotel Boutique Mirlo, Alma Barcelona, Wittmore Hotel Barcelona, Antiga Casa Buenavista, Monument Hotel, The One Barcelona, Ohla Eixample, Hotel Arts Barcelona, and Serras Barcelona.

Even the charming Little Beach House Barcelona in Garraf received a coveted Key, highlighting the region’s exceptional hospitality offerings.

Barcelona boasts an unparalleled scene, be it the food, the comfortable areas to stay, or the breathtaking beaches, making it a truly remarkable destination.

Thanks to these diverse offerings, most hotels in the booming Catalan capital managed to check all the boxes that the team of MICHELIN experts was looking for.

The criteria typically revolve around five main aspects: quality and consistency of service, value for the price, architecture and interior design, overall personality and character, and the hotel’s contribution to the neighbourhood or setting where it’s situated.

Over the last four years, the MICHELIN selection team of passionate, independent experts has vetted, scrutinized, and ultimately determined over 5,000 remarkable hotels for inclusion in their collection, each selected for its remarkable quality.

Out of these thousands of hotels, those offering the most outstanding stays were awarded the special MICHELIN Key distinction.

In Spain, 97 hotels received the coveted MICHELIN Keys, and Barcelona, being a famous tourist destination, secured a fair share of this recognition.

With MICHELIN itself acknowledging Barcelona as the ultimate destination with exquisite hotels and proceeding to award the prestigious Keys, it underscores the city’s reputation for exceptional hospitality.

To truly enjoy your stay in Barcelona, perhaps you should try out one of these MICHELIN-selected hotels to experience the ultimate in luxury and service.
