Leicester and Leeds will be playing Championship football next season

By defeating Bournemouth 1-0 at Goodison Park on the final day of the Premier League season, Everton has avoided relegation.

This results in the relegation of Leeds and Leicester to the Championship. By defeating West Ham 2-1 at the King Power, the Foxes upheld their end of the bargain, and they would have maintained their position if Bournemouth had netted an equalizer on Merseyside.
Only seven years have passed since Leicester won the Premier League championship before being relegated. Tottenham defeated Leeds 4-1 at Elland Road to terminate Leeds’ three-year tenure in the top division. Here is the complete account of Sunday’s thrilling conclusion.

Going into the final day, Everton had 33 points while Leicester and Leeds both had 31 points. The Foxes had a much better goal differential than their competitors, therefore if they won and Everton drew, they would stay in the top division. Leeds did not enjoy the same convenience.

Two minutes after the game began, Leeds’ aspirations were gone. From about 12 yards out, Son Heung-min set up Harry Kane, and there could only be one result. To quiet Elland Road, the England captain slammed the ball into the top corner.

The Foxes then took action. Before putting the ball in the goal, Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho executed a fantastic one-two down the left channel. Knowing they were now outside the relegation zone, Leicester supporters erupted in jubilation.

Leeds made the exact same entry into the second half. After some outstanding effort, Kane set Pedro Porro up for a goal before the Spaniard finished the job. Although Rasmus Kristensen urged his Leeds teammates to be positive, their future was all but assured.

The worst news imaginable came through to Leicester supporters as they listened to their handheld radios. Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the finest goal of his life into the bottom corner from the edge of Bournemouth’s box, moving Everton up to 17th place.

Gary Neville encapsulated the reaction of Everton supporters. Goosebumps!” he exclaimed. Although the tiny deviation on the way through benefits Doucoure, the Everton Football Club benefits much more. Like no other gantry I’ve been in, this one is shaking. The ground is trembling.

With just under 30 minutes left to play, Wout Faes scored Leicester’s second goal in style. Everton now had to maintain their advantage. That’s exactly what Sean Dyche’s group of players achieved, much to the relief of everyone at Goodison Park.

West Ham attempted to equalize after Pablo Fornals’ late goal at the King Power Stadium, but they were unsuccessful. Kane finished up his hat trick at Elland Road before Lucas Moura scored on his farewell Tottenham outing. For Leeds, Jack Harrison found the goal.

Conor Coady of Everton stated to Sky Sports that “relief is the main emotion.” You don’t want to see the demise of this massive football team. This club has to rise and get better now.”
