As we bid adieu to the mini heatwave, Dublin is bracing itself for a significant drop in temperatures, with the mercury plummeting to single digits. According to the latest forecast from Met Éireann, the capital city will experience nighttime temperatures as low as 4 degrees over the next few nights, so it’s time to dig out those cosy sweaters and scarves.

Today’s weather is expected to start with cloud cover and scattered outbreaks of rain and mist. However, there’s good news on the horizon as we can anticipate spells of sunshine and dry weather later in the morning, particularly from the northwest. Daytime temperatures are predicted to range around 15 or 16 degrees, but the westerly winds veering northwesterly may make it feel cooler, occasionally gusty.

Tonight is expected to be dry and clear, albeit cold, with temperatures dropping to 4 to 7 degrees. Tomorrow is likely to be cool and bright, offering plenty of sunshine with a few scattered showers. Expect temperatures around 13 or 14 degrees.

Looking ahead, Wednesday night will bring dry weather with clear spells, though some scattered showers are expected, primarily in the north and west. Thursday’s weather forecast indicates a mix of cloud and sunshine, with scattered showers, most frequent in Ulster. Finally, there’s uncertainty surrounding the timing, but a spell of rain is anticipated to move in from the west on Thursday night or early Friday, followed by clear spells and scattered showers.

Friday morning may see the rain clearing southeastwards, making way for sunshine and a scattering of showers. The highest temperatures are expected to reach 13 to 17 degrees, accompanied by moderate to fresh westerly winds.

As always, it’s important to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts, especially if you have travel plans or outdoor activities scheduled. Remember to dress warmly and be prepared for varying weather conditions.
