Victor Wembanyama’s Stellar Display Fails To Lead Metropolitans Past Cholet Basket

From drawing big crowds to dropping masterclass performances, Wembanyama’s in-court prowess has been on display all season long.

Currently averaging 21.3 points,10.0 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game, Wemby has been in his element lately. His contribution has ensured Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 stay in second place on the LNB Pro A just behind Monaco.

Until Friday, May 12, 2023, Wembanyama-led Metropolitans 92 was having a spectacular winning streak before Cholet basket put a halt to it.

Metropolitans 92 had two games left before playing Cholet and unfortunately were defeated 69-68 despite their hopes to finish the season on a high note.

Wembanyama Is A Block Maestro

Cholet had a strong first half leading 41-31 at the first-half whistle. Despite the late rally by Metropolitans 92 in the second half, they failed to secure a win at the final whistle with Wembanyama trying to win the game with a half-court shot which failed to get in the basket.

Metropolitans 92 failure to win the game did not hinder Wembanyama from having a spectacular game.

He finished the game with a strong 17 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists after 34 minutes. His efforts however deemed futile as the team failed to topple the one point versus Cholet.

DeVante Jones added 15 points 4 rebounds and 6 assists, and Bilal Coulibaly 14 points 4 rebounds and 5 assists for Metropolitans 92.

Boris Dallo led the Cholet to win with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in a stellar performance.

The game was highly contested but Cholet put on a fierce fight for the LNB Pro A number 2. Wembanyama’s game was good but it was not good enough to lead Metropoloitans 92 past Cholet.

Having toppled Nanterre 82-72 in a sweet victory in their previous game, Metropolitans failed short and this might have slowed their tempo as they look to finish the season on a high note.

There is however a chance to redeem themselves in their final game against 8th-placed Paris which is slated for Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Metropolitans will be looking to close the season with a win and it being a farewell game for Victor, we are expecting nothing but fireworks.

Victor will be joining the NBA soon and his time at Metropolitans has been one of the best times of his young career.

Learning from Vincent Collet, one of the best coaches in France Victor has grown to become a formidable force in the game and he will be looking to take his talents to the USA. Before then we will have to wait and see how his season-ending game plays out.
