Fifteen Belgian and Dutch tour operators and travel agents recently embarked on a captivating journey to the island of Ireland as esteemed guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, and Tourism NI. The purpose of their visit was to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry and breathtaking landscapes of Ireland’s Ancient East and Northern Ireland, equipping them with the knowledge and enthusiasm to promote the destination to their clients upon their return home.

During their visit, the group delved into an array of remarkable experiences, including exploring Powerscourt Estate, Glendalough, Russborough House, the Irish National Stud & Gardens, and Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre. Additionally, they savoured the beauty of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, ventured through The Gobbins, marvelled at Titanic Belfast, and indulged in a leisurely walk in Kilbroney Park.

Karen van der Horst, the Manager for Northern Europe at Tourism Ireland, expressed her delight in hosting the group, stating,

“We were delighted to invite this group of Belgian and Dutch tour operators and travel agents to explore Ireland’s Ancient East and Northern Ireland – and experience our amazing scenery, activities, and hospitality for themselves. Fact-finding visits like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s activity with the travel trade in both Belgium and the Netherlands. Our aim is that when they return home, the travel professionals will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for the island of Ireland in 2024 and beyond.”

Tourism Ireland, the organization at the helm of promoting the island of Ireland as a premier holiday destination, places great emphasis on engaging with the global travel trade. With an international website and market-specific sites available in 18 different countries, as well as one international site in seven language versions around the world, Tourism Ireland continues to showcase the allure of the island of Ireland to a global audience.
