2024 is the year when Albufeira conducts its third edition of the Sea Festivities. The event brings together families, artists and businesses through celebrations at the idyllic southern city. This year’s event, thought set for March, had to be postponed due to adverse weather but kicked off smoothly on 4th April, 2024.
A Special Region to Getaway
Albufeira is a historical relic, with centuries old buildings, rugged cliff sides, and blue seas that lend it a calmingly poetic charm. It is roughly three and a half hour-drive away from Lisbon, the country’s capital. Its beaches, filled with golden sand, makes it ideal for a quiet escape, far from the hassle of everyday toils. Even better, it is perfect for a family getaway, with its amazing sea food and children’s activities.
Fun Events for all Ages
According to Albufeira Municipio, the three-day event was to feature three concerts by musical groups Expensive Soul, Hybrid Theory, and GNR. Today, GNR wraps the festivities amid activities such as surfing, art, skate workshop, and some traditional games.
An exhibition at Albufeira’s main square about the “Portuguese Revolution” also mark the cultural importance of the event. As it reaches its climax today, taking the short drive here is a plausible idea for the weekend. Entry is generally free for all three days, which means it could be your go-to April event next year as well. All one needs is to make it to Albufeira.
