1. Richard Alba

He starts our list as one of the Bronx’s most famous people. Richard is a Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Richard rose to prominence as the Vice President of the American Sociological Association in 2001. He served as President of the Eastern Sociological Society in 1997 and 1998.

He was elected president of the National Association of Attorneys General after serving as chairman of its Environment, Civil Rights, and Anti-Trust Committees, and he was chosen by his peers to receive the prestigious Wyman Award as the Nation’s Outstanding Attorney General.
