Mexico is a beautiful country which lies in the Northern part of the American continent. Mexico is best known for its extraordinary beaches, breathtaking scenery and also mouth watering foods. Mexico is also famous for having some of the most beautiful women in the world, making a visit to this country even more worth it. This country has produced some of the most talented ladies in the film industry world wide. Here is a list of the Top 5 most famous Mexican actresses.

1. Salma Hayek Pinault

Salma Hayek Jiménez was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico on September 2, 1966. She is a Mexican and American film actress and producer. In 1989, at the age of 23, Hayek landed the title role in Teresa, a successful Mexican telenovela. That made her a star and a house home name in Mexico. Everybody loved her!

She was nominated for an Ariel Award for her role in the film El Callejón de los Milagros, Miracle Alley. In 1991, Hayek moved to Hollywood and rose to fame with roles in films such as Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, and you might remember her from the  Wild West where she acted alongside Will Smith.

Her breakthrough role was in the 2002 film Frida, where she acted as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

She was nominated for Best Actress for the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award. This movie earned a lot of attention, making it a large commercial success.

2. Ariadna Thalía Sodi Miranda Mottola

This Mexican singer, business woman, and actress was born on 26 August 1971. Known by just one name, Thalía, she is considered one of the most prosperous and influential Mexican artists globally.

She is said to be the “Queen of Latin Pop” by the media because of her contribution to the Latin pop music scene over the past three decades. Aside from her native language Spanish, Thalía has made music in English, French, Portuguese and Tagalog. Having sold around 25 million records worldwide, Thalía is one of the best-selling latin music artists.

As an actress, Thalía featured in a number of highly successful telenovelas that aired all over the works, causing her to be called the “Queen of telenovelas” by the mass media.

Thalia married music executive Tommy Mottola on 2 December 2000. They have two children.

3.  González Reyna

Eiza González Reyna was born 30 January 1990 and is a Mexican actress and singer. She was born in Mexico City, Mexico and is the only daughter of former Mexican model, Glenda Reyna, and Carlos González. Her father passed away in a motorcycle accident when she was very young; she has referred to her father’s death as having had a strong impact on her career.

She became popular through her debut role as Lola Valente in the Mexican musical telenovela Lola, érase una vez. González acted as Santanico Pandemonium in the American horror series From Dusk till Dawn and I also recommend you see her play Madam M in The Fast and the Furious spin-off film Hobbs & Shaw.

She is talented in languages and is fluent in English and Spanish, and she also speaks some Italian. In 2013, González relocated to Los Angeles.

 

4. Ana Brenda Contreras

Ana Brenda Contreras was born on December 24, 1986 and is a Mexican actress, model and singer. She got famous when she played Aurora Alcázar in the telenovela Teresa.

Contreras is of Mexican descent and speaks both English and Spanish fluently. She went to Mexico City in 2002 at the tender age of 15 to join the reality show “Pop Stars”. In 2003, she took acting classes in Televisa’s Centro de Educación Artística in Mexico City.

Contreras starred as Cristal Jennings in The CW’s series Dynasty a recent series that you can catch her on.

Watch her act in her first English role as she stars as Cristal Jennings in the second season of The CW’s prime time soap opera reboot, Dynasty.

5. Yalitza Apricio Martinez

This Mexican actress was born on 11 December in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca. Her parents are of indigenous origin; her father was Mixtec and her mother is Trique. Aparicio was brought up by a single mother who worked as a house help. She does not have proper training in acting. She has a degree in preschool education and held a degree in early childhood education and worked in a school before she went into acting. She won her first acting role just prior to qualifying as a teacher.

She featured on the cover of the Vanity Fair 2019 “Hollywood Issue”, and made her film debut as Cleo in Alfonso Cuarón’s drama Roma. This earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress.

In 2019 Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. And in the same year, she was named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Indigenous Peoples.
