2. Kayangan Lake Belongs to  Indigenous People

Kayangan Lake is the ancestral domain of the indigenous people, Tagbanua, who is referred to as the guardians of Coron. The Tagbanua believe in Panyain or spirits that dwell in nature, including the lakes, trees, and the seas.

The Coron Island Ancestral Domain of the Tagbanwa people covers the two villages of Banuang Daan and Cabugao and the neighboring Delian Island.

The shipwrecks of Coron Bay are a series of impressive wreck sites for diving and snorkeling in Palawan. There are 12 sunken wartime ships at the bottom of the ocean as of the second world war between Japan and USA navies.

Encrusted with coral, and housing abundant marine life, the Coron shipwrecks offer some of the most popular dive sites in the Philippines. These ships’ wrecks lie at the depth of 10-40 meters putting them within reaching range of recreational divers.

The two lagoons are separated by a very narrow cliff and one can hop between the two using the wooden steps at high tide, or swim beneath the cliff at low tide.

The only way to get to Twin Lagoons is by boat, either as part of a group tour or by hiring a private boat. It is also compulsory to wear a life jacket when swimming in the twin lagoon.

9. Relax at  Maquinit Hot Springs

Heading over to Maquinit Hot springs is always a recommended and good idea after a very tiring Coron island tour. This is the best place to soothe the aching body after a day of being physically active.

Maquinit is the only known saltwater hot spring in the Philippines. Its waters come from a volcano hence it being hot. While resting and relaxing in a natural pool one will enjoy great views of lined mangroves, hills, and the blue sea.

10. How to get to The Kayangan Lake

Kayangan lake is located on Coron Island, Palawan province in the Philippines. To get there, take a flight to Busuanga and from the airport take a shuttle to Coron town. 

From Coron Town, take the island loop boat tour, which includes Kayangan Lake. Before reaching the famous tourist spot, you need to take a steep 10-15 minutes uphill climb of approximately 300 steps towards the inland lake.
