Top Michelin Star Restaurants in Madrid

The Spanish capital, Madrid, is without a doubt the chicest metropolitan city on the Iberian peninsula. While it’s a haven for local Spanish culture and cuisine, it’s also become a progressive gastronomic hub in which some of the world’s most accomplished chefs share their work.

The Michelin Guide has taken note, and awarded stars to numerous Madrid based chefs and restaurants, making it a global fine dining hotspot.

These are some of the top Michelin Star Restaurants in Madrid; for all of which you’ll need a reservation made well in advance.

DSTAgE in Madrid

Two Michelin Stars

To put it simply, DSTAgE is a culinary experience you’ll remember for years to come. It’s a two star fusion experience that combines the traditional flavors of Mexico, Japan and Spain into a single cuisine.

If you’re a fan of even one of these taste origins, you’ll love the food. If you’re a fan of all three, prepare to have your mind blown.

The restaurant itself is designed like an urban yet rustic social house. The mood lighting makes for an ambient space in which to lose a few hours in honor of cooking art.

The chef, Diego Guerrero, likes to interact directly with guests and shows the fun in creating his dishes. You’ll start your evening in the bar area, where certain appetizers are served, and then be guided through to the kitchen area for the remainder of the experience.

The recommended experience is the 15 course tasting plates that will only set you back around €150. Alternatively one can upgrade to the 18 course degustation that costs just €20 more.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday — 1:30pm to 3pm // 9pm to 10:30pm

Álbora in Madrid

One Michelin Star

In similar fashion, you also have the choice of either the bar or the restaurant when dining at Álbora.

The space itself is modern and notably upmarket. People who come here for dinner service tend to put great effort into their appearance — in other words, dress up!

If you choose to dine in the bar (which will be your only option if you try to book short notice) you’ll have to dine solely a la carte. There is incredible variety on Álbora’s a la carte menu, suited to catering to both veggie and meat eaters.

If you manage to get a restaurant booking, you’ll be eating either the long or short tasting menu designed by Chef Joselito Coppa.

Álbora is one of the more affordable Michelin Star dining experiences in Madrid. It is easily possible to dine here for under €100 per person. Children are also welcome during lunch service.

DiverXO in Madrid

Three Michelin Stars

Welcome to the whimsical world of DiverXO in Madrid. Perhaps it’s the all white interior, or the flying pigs that seem to move between the walls, but there’s something undeniably charming about DiverXO that leaves even the harshest of critics coming back for more.

This is the first and only restaurant in all of Madrid to have been awarded three stars from the Michelin Guide. The award speaks for itself in terms of what kind of culinary artistry you can expect from DiverXO.

They go so far as to call their meals “canvases”, instead of simply plates or dishes. Each “canvas” is presented as a work of art, a visual delight almost too good to disturb with a knife and fork.

Needless to say, bookings at DiverXO are essential. Bookings open on the 1st of each month for reservation during the month that follows.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Friday — 1:30pm to 7pm // 8:30pm to 2am

Ramón Freixa Madrid in Madrid

Two Michelin Stars

Ramon Freixa’s little restaurant in Madrid’s Salamanca district is a Michelin experience to look out for.

It’s much smaller and less of a spectacle compared to Madrid’s other Michelin eateries, but the classic elegance of the dining space is built around a charming central courtyard garden, flooding the interior with natural light.

This is a fish-heavy menu, and the mini tasting menu is enough to feed most people twice over — but absolutely go for the full 20-dish experience if you have it in you!

For a lighter experience, visit for lunch and enjoy a 6-course meal for just €55.

If you, or someone you are dining with, happen to be plant based eaters, you need only let the restaurant know and the chef will gladly, and perfectly, adjust all 20 courses to suit the individual.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday — 1:30pm to 3:30pm // 9pm to 1:30pm
ADDRESS: PCalle de Claudio Coello, 67, 28001 Madrid, Spain

Cebo in Madrid

One Michelin Star

Naturally, Madrid needed at least one Michelin awarded restaurant that specialized in the flavors of the Iberian peninsula.

What could be more apt than “cebo” itself? “Cebo” means bait, and at this restaurant you’ll dive deep into the wonders of the waters that surround the Spanish shores.

In further celebration of the country, you’ll find a menu option suitably named “The Seventeen”. A 17 course dining experience featuring 17 signature dishes, one from each of Spain’s 17 autonomous regions.

It’s quite a feat to make it to the final dish at Cebo, but well worth each and every bite. Come hungry!
