Luxury Shopping in Lisbon

Why you need to pay attention to Lisbon’s luxury scene

Lisbon is not only a historically attractive city where many magnificent sightseeing places in Portugal are located. Here you can buy interesting souvenirs, clothes, shoes and especially luxury items, which are unlikely to be found in other European countries. Lisbon has become one of the best and most unique outlets to shop at, which you could even compare to those in Milan.

Sale season in Portugal is different from other European countries

In accordance with the laws enforced in Portugal, seasonal sales in Lisbon (Saldos) occur twice a year: from January 7 to February 28 (winter sale) and from August 7 to September 30 (summer sale). Discounts on clothes and shoes during this period can reach 90%.

Please mind that shops in Lisbon work weekdays from 9:00 to 19:00.

Your luxury journey: Where to start?

Chiado is considered to be the best shopping district in Lisbon, in which fine boutiques and street markets coexist very peacefully. It is also recommended to buy gold and jewelry since it is often cheaper here than anywhere else in Portugal. In local jewelry stores, you can find the desired combination of price, quality, and range.

The TOUS store

Right in the middle of the city center, here you will find all kinds of beautiful items for women and even children.

The Baixa district

The historic center of Lisbon is another place for meaningful traditional shopping. On the streets located between the central square of Praça do Comercio and the Rossio and Figueira squares. There are small shops where you can buy souvenirs made of ceramics and cork, leather, flax and cotton, wine, clothes, and shoes.

Hermés

If you try to go up towards the Luis Camoes monument right near the train station, you will be able to see a small boutique of Hermés. This French brand has become a true amalgam of luxury and class. Everyone who is looking for true French quality knows them.

Their iconic bags of Birkin and Kelly have become world-wide famous and every celebrity has a need to get those. All of them tried and I am sure you have heard that story when Oprah was denied of getting a Birkin bag in Paris. This story was real and one really need to have a proper reputation and attitude to get the privilege of geting the desired bag.

Luckily for you, there is a fashion service in Lisbon that is not only taking care of luxury items for you but also offers personal shopping. You can get free to advise and consultation at any time at FilosoFashion.

Rossio station

Going down the Baixa area to Avenida da Liberdade, you will get drowned in the real world of luxury.  At this avenue, you will find all kinds of brands from Italian to native Portuguese niche concept stores.

Starting from Rossio station you will see a beautiful hotel that is called Edem. To that side, you will see Armani, Maje, Max Mara, Pronovias, Hugo Boss, Ermenegildo Zegna.

I highly recommend visiting the last one if you are a man or looking for a perfect gift to your husband. They truly have the best-tailored suites and especially good sneakers for those who got tired of “Gucci style”. They have class and their last Couture XXX collection will just steal your heart.

To the right side of the avenue, you will find stores like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Elisabetta Franci, Lacoste, Carolina Herrera, Bulgari, Versace, etc.

For ladies, I would highly suggest visiting Carolina Herrera and taking a closer look at their cashmere scarves collection. Their exceptional quality and softness will make you feel like a queen.

And a little advice to men that are looking for a gift to your wife. Please pay special attention to fine jewelry at Bulgari and their iconic Serpenti bags. These bags will become a special gem of your woman’s attire at any time.

Speaking of bags from the luxury niche, let us not forget about the must-have of every woman. Which is, of course, a Louis Vuitton shopper bag. Every woman knows that the bag is not only a place to hide keys and a wallet, but also a place to pack “half of her life”.

I have heard that some would say that the Lisbon store has an even better choice than those in Paris. This is definitely a great idea to come shop at the Lisbon store at Louis Vuitton.

Whether you are a man or a woman and you like classics, I would suggest you visit Burberry store. Their iconic beige trench coats have become an essence of the wardrobe. Their cashmere scarves will be a perfect match to the trench making you look classy and all-in English kind of style.

Lisbon Shops and Shopping Centers

El Corte Inglés

This large shopping center – similar to the famous Spanish network of department stores. It occupies 9 floors and includes boutiques of famous brands (Karen Millen, Carolina Herrera, Ermenegildo Zegna, etc.), selling shoes, accessories, cosmetics and perfumes, household goods, electronics, and books. You can also find cafés, restaurants, cinemas, and supermarkets. In the customer service department, you can apply for the Tax-Free system.

I suggest that you pay attention to Maje court since this is a stock corner and you could get a real deal.

Also, the shoe department is where you will catch a real bargain from brands like Michael Kors.

If you are a fur lover then you are in the right place. They have a very choice of fur goods and winter jackets. Those are made of high-quality mink, fox, rabbit furs, etc.

For the kids,  brands from Kenzo to Ralph Lauren have released collections. They often have a great stock of cashmere sweaters, scarves, leather jackets, and shoes.

El Corte Inglés

Colombo shopping center

This shopping mall is the largest shopping center on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe. In its 440 stores, you can buy clothes and shoes of both famous designer brands and quite democratic brands like Zara, Bershka,  and Furla. Here you can also find cosmetics, perfumery and household goods.

Children will be interested in the Disney Store area and the Zon cinema with 10 cinema halls. There are also 60 cafes and restaurants serving international cuisine.

Regarding the luxury depatment, I would advise visiting Furla, Lacoste, and Uterque. There is always the best range of choice from all over Portugal.

Centro Vasco da Gama shopping center

This modern shopping center of Lisbon, located next to the Park of Nations, has an original design: water flows through its glass roof, creating an aquarium effect. Despite this architectural point of difference, the boutiques and choice of restaurants remain similar to the others in the article.

When at Vasco da Gama shopping center, you are advised to see Calvin Klein boutique and Caroll store. I am persoanlly a big fan of their all natural lingerie set and perfect wool knitted French sweaters.

Freeport outlet center

A huge shopping center is located in the suburbs of Lisbon, near the Vasco da Gama bridge. This outlet is popular with locals and city guests for its affordable prices. It offers luxury stock from brands such as Burberry, Max Mara and Carolina Herrera.

I strongly advise you to check out Burberry boutique there. You might not catch a perfect beige trench, but there is always a great range of wool and cashmere coats.

There is a vast choice of classic bags from different years. All the prices will definitely surprise you.

Stivali concept store

Stivali is a well-known multi-brand store in the middle of Lisbon’s center.

It presents the following brands of clothing, shoes, and accessories: Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Cividini, Chanel, Gucci, Donna Karan, Elie Saab, Cesare Paciotti, Gianvito Rossi, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Zagliani, Rene Caovilla, and Chloe.

There is also a Stivalie stock store at Rua Castilho, 71B where you can buy items from past collections with a discount of about 50%.

Pay attention to Bottega Venetta bags as they will always be the top-notch luxury choice for every occasion. As well as black Chanel crossbody bags.

Amoreiras shopping center

Very popular among the residents of Lisbon, this shopping center located on the top of a hill was one of the first to appear in the city. Here you can buy anything from fashionable clothes and cosmetics to home goods and products.

I suggest you to check out Pierre Cardi, Ralp Lauren and a Portuguese brand Sacoor Brothers. Sacoor Brothers has very good quality basic shirts for men.

At Stefanel you will always find a great piece of the basic wardrobe like gloves and scarves, all made of natural wool blends.

At Trussardi Jeans, you will find a durable pair of jeans and basic T-shirts for yourself or your better half.

Fátima Lopes store

Fatima Lopes is one of the most famous Portuguese fashion designers in Europe.

At here store there is a workshop where they create uniqueclothing items, a boutique which also sells her designer jewelery, and a small cafe.

Address: R. da Atalaia 36, 1200-043 Lisboa, Portugal

When visiting, check out the genuine leather boots in black and green colors.

One of the buys to take back from Lisbon would be  shoes of course. A famous portuguese celebrity and shoe maker Luis Onofre definitely knows a craft of making perfect shoes. You could visit his shope at Luis Onofre space. He is well known for chic and extravaganza.

In order to not waste time in shopping centres, losing your heads in the vast choice of luxury items, I recommend making a list of desired products beforehand. Lisbon might look tiny, but it is actually a big city where you still need a lot of time to get from point A to point B.

Don’t hesitate to contact me at FilosoFashion where I can give you educated style advice as a trained fashion consultant. This will certainly save you time and give you direction if you are unsure of what to look for.

Dear readers and Lisbon visitors, even if you want or need to spend time on luxury shopping, do not forget to pause for a second to seize the day. Do not foget to live in the moment and feel a fresh breeze from the ocean. Your luxury things might shine bright, but the warm Lisbon sun will always shine brighter. Don’t forget to fuel your luxury shopping trip with seafood and a robust Portuguese wine!
