Actor and producer Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born in the United States on November 11, 1974. He is recognized for his work as a leading man in biopics and historical dramas, and he has won numerous awards, including three Golden Globe Awards, an Academy Award, and a British Academy Film Award. His films have earned more than $7.2 billion globally as of 2019, and he has appeared eight times in lists of the highest-paid actors in the world. 

DiCaprio is the creator of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a non-profit group focused on advancing environmental awareness, as well as Appian Way Productions, a production business that has produced some of his films as well as the documentary series Greensburg (2008–2010). He frequently contributes to philanthropic organizations and has created a number of environmental documentaries. He is currently one of the Messengers of Peace for the UN. For his services to the arts, he was made a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2005. In 2016, Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. 1. His name was taken from a DaVinci artwork

Little Leo kicked for the first time while his expectant mother was looking at a DaVinci artwork while Leo’s parents were on their honeymoon in Florence and visiting the Uffizi Gallery. This was interpreted by his father as a message to name him Leonardo.

2. He struggled to get a job due to his name

Finding an agency was challenging for DiCaprio early in his career. When he finally did, he advised DiCaprio to adopt the name Lenny Williams in order to appeal to American audiences, but the actor rejected the suggestion. Even after 100 auditions, DiCaprio remained jobless for a year and a half.  He decided to give up acting as a result of this lack of success, but his father convinced him to keep going.

In Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (1996), which was a shortened adaptation of William Shakespeare’s love tragedy of the same name but kept the original Shakespearean dialogue, DiCaprio co-starred with Claire Danes. In addition to earning DiCaprio a Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 1997 Berlin International Film Festival, the movie brought in $147 million worldwide. Titanic eventually amassed more than $2.1 billion in worldwide box office receipts, making it the highest-grossing movie at the time.  DiCaprio’s transformation into a star due to his portrayal of Jack Dawson led to strong admiration from young women in general, dubbed “Leo-mania,” which is analogous to Beatlemania in the 1960s.

During this time, he had a meeting with Shimon Peres and traveled to Refaeli’s hometown of Hod HaSharon. From July 2013 through December 2014 and again in 2017, he dated German fashion model Toni Garrn. 9. He suffered a serious facial injury

Model Aretha Wilson struck actor Leonardo DiCaprio over the head with a broken bottle at a Hollywood party in 2005, badly injuring his face. He needed seventeen stitches for his face and neck as a result.  Wilson admitted to the assault and was given a two-year prison term in 2010.
