Top 6 Places to Eat Eggs Benedict in London

The official origins of Eggs Benedict are largely conflicting, with a few global cuisines all claiming to have created the dish to some degree.

The Brits have been on this recipe since the beginning, and you’ll find few breakfast and brunch spots in London that don’t offer it as a dish.

Instead of arguing over where Eggs Bennis really originated, I’ll just tell you where you can enjoy the best versions of it while in London Town.

1. The Wolseley in London

What is the outing of all outings while in the British capital? It’s got to be a guided walking tour of St. James, followed by the changing of the guards ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace, and ended off with Eggs Benedict at The Wolseley just down the street.

It’s become a notorious spot on the London brunch scene, people queue here daily just to get their pick of scones and jam, croissants and the tastiest eggs outside of the palace.

3. The Troubadour in London

I stumbled upon this fabulous British brunch spot in South Kensington after a night out at one of the art house cinemas nearby.

This must be one of London’s local best kept secrets, because it is the most festive and low-key brunch spaces I’ve found in this city. No better place for a good old English fry up first thing in the morning, or an Irish coffee at a street-side table before turning in late at night.

For the Eggs Benedict you’ll choose between either salmon or spinach as your protein base. Be cheeky and order an extra side of the Hollandaise sauce.

4. Casa Tua King’s Cross in London

The woman who told me about Casa Tua confident stated that she had had the best Eggs Benedict of her life right here near King’s Cross. She spent a solid five minutes of the guided walking tour also noting how hard it had been to find decent Eggs Benedict in eastern Europe, and how thrilled she was to be back in a city “that gets it”.

Casa Tua’s Eggs Benedict is, indeed, quite remarkable. But this probably has a lot to do with the fact that they serve it in three portions, as opposed to the traditional just two.

6. The Table Café in London

Gluten free eaters listen up, this one’s for you!

The Table Cafe is simply delightful — this is as proper, and as British, as I can put it on paper.

Fantastic, traditional Eggs Benedict alongside pancake stacks, fry ups, avocado plates, sliders and a whole lot more. They’ll do your Eggs Benni gluten free upon request, and there are a bunch of other meals on this menu also suitable for anyone dining this way.

Do note, however, their “traditional” take on the dish makes it very British and they heap a lot of baked beans onto the muffins. While it’s all very delicious as a flavor combination, if this is not to your taste be sure to request they leave them off.
