Farmers’ markets have gained popularity over the past decade, and London has been at the forefront of promoting them. The markets intended to sell foods directly by farmers to consumers; farmers have stalls where they sell their produce. Make sure to shop weekly with your family and friends, sample something new, and shop for seasonal specialties. It’s advisable to bring your bags and containers, not all stalls attend weekly, and some stalls accept card payments.

1. Notting Hill Farmers’ Market

This farmer’s market is hidden away behind Waterstones and Newcombe House, and it’s one of W11’s best-kept secrets. The market was established in 1990 and opened every Saturday at 10 am. It’s advisable to arrive early before the best of the bunch sells out; at 10 am, local people queue patiently for fishermen to get fresh fish.

At the market, you will find products from different farmers such as the freshest fruit and vegetable from Perry Court Farm, unpasteurized milk and cream from Hurdlebrook, and fresh herbs and salad from Nigel’s Lettuces and Lovage. You will also get Ted’s Veg, Brambletye Farm and Chegworth Valley, a jar of local honey from Bee Friendly and a bunch of seasonal Flores from Grange Nursery.

Some of the products are seasonal such as root veg in January, wild garlic in March, asparagus and strawberries in May, peas in June, Cherries in July, apples, and plums from August, corn in September, game in October, celery in November and turkeys in December. Finally, most stalls accept card payments, smoking is not allowed in the market, not all stalls attend weekly, and it is advisable to bring your bags and food containers to market to save using new plastic.

2. Marylebone Farmers’ Market

If you are looking for fresh food, this is the market. Marylebone farmers’ market was established in June 2003, located on St. Vincent and the top of Moxon Street, and is one of our flagship farmers’ markets, open every Sunday from 10 am- 2 pm.

At the market, you will find a wide variety of vegetables and fruit from Manor Farm, Wild Country Organics, Perry Court Farm, Chegworth Valley, Riverdale Organic Farm, Akiki Organics, and popular Potato shops. Find oysters for breakfast from Norfolk-based Longshore, raw milk from Midgham, Galileo Farm, and Layer Marney Produce. Look out for excellent meat and poultry, asparagus and strawberries in May, corn in September, and apples and plums in August.

Don’t worry about parking because it’s free on-street parking; however, avoid resident bays, check out Paddington Gardens for rest, and let your kids play in the park also well- behaved dogs are very welcome. Some stalls accept card payments, but not all attend weekly and bring your bags and food containers to market to save using new plastic.

3. Parliament Hill Farmers’ Market

This market emphasizes high quality; it was established in September 2008 and opened every Saturday at 10 am. Their dog park is the most Instagrammed part of the farmers’ market; you will find well-heeled pooches waiting patiently for their owners to return. You can visit the market before or after jogging or walking the dog. Many lines up for their favorite stalls, such as Aston for brilliant sourdough bread, Eden Farms organic veg, Five Ways Fruit Farm for asparagus, Wild Country Organics range of salad leaves, Pasta E Basta, and many more.

Some foods are seasonal; you will get purple sprouting broccoli in February, cherries in June, root veg in November and many more. As for payments, most stallholders accept card payments, and not all stalls attend weekly. Finally, the market is surrounded by parks and picnic places you can visit after that.

4. Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market

Want to have an exciting day at a farmers’ market? Visit Queens Park, which is found on the grounds of Salusbury primary school. Established in September 2005, it is a family-friendly market, bustling and attracting attention and customers for its range of stalls selling fresh foods and products representing the best British produce.

The market has organic and biodynamic vegetables, eggs, free-range, organic poultry and meat, honey, and pies. If you have a birthday or are shopping for a present, head for the Old Bakery Gin, pick a gorgeous small batch bottle, or head to Babycakes for a chocolate-Guinness celebration cake baked down the road in Kensal Green.

Also, be on the lookout for seasonal specials and guest stalls from asparagus and strawberries in May, birch sap and farmed trout, celery in November, corn in September, game in October, and turkey in December.
At the school’s request, there is no smoking, and dogs are left outside. Unfortunately, there are no public loos on site.

5. Chatsworth Road Market

This used to be one of the busiest markets, with up to 200 stalls. Unfortunately, it was closed down, but it reopened in 2010. Hackney Council now runs the market, and it opens on Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm with a wide variety of food products. Chatsworth Road market has over 50 traders offering a strong selection of products, and several handmade and unique products make great gifts.

You will get Pie cart’s handmade wares, alpine specialist raw cheeses power. There is also Paddy Field’s delectable Japanese rice parcels, Hanoi Kitchen’s Vietnamese Street food, and Deeney’s haggis toasties.

Additionally, you will find an award-winning butcher, breed, a fishmonger, handmade beauty products, new clothing, and jewelry. The market is closed the Sundays after Christmas and New Year.
