Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough in England. The cost of living in this city is significantly lower than in many cities across the UK.

When compared to London, renting a house is 65% cheaper in Liverpool. In this city, students and families will end up saving too as things such as monthly utility bills and childcare costs are comparatively less expensive.

Here are the best suburbs to live in Liverpool.

1. Allerton

Allerton is a suburb in the South-east of Liverpool which is outside the city center. It is just a 10-minute drive from Allerton to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. This is a good location for people who regularly have international flights.

Allerton is viewed as one of the best parts of Liverpool to live in. With lots of open green spaces, as well as a buzzing social scene, this suburb offers the best of both worlds.

Allerton seems to be one of the most suitable options for families. It’s still close enough to the inner city, but it comes with a better selection of schools. The quieter life and access to green amenities are also positive.

2. Ropewalks

4. Baltic Triangle

5. Sefton Park

Sefton Park is a relaxed suburban district in Liverpool as well as one of Liverpool’s most iconic open spaces.

The mostly Victorian-era terraced houses and more modern apartments are a great place to get away from the crowds of central Liverpool.

Just a few minutes south of the city center, is Sefton Park, a 235-acre park in the area. The park is home to a stunning Victorian-era conservatory palm house, a granite obelisk, fountains, numerous statues, and a large boating lake.

6. Lark Lane

Lark Lane lies in the south of Liverpool and has been a popular spot for students and young professionals. It does have an attractive mix of different styles of local and ethnic restaurants as well as bars.

It is also close to Sefton Park which is a top amenity in Liverpool. From fitness enthusiasts to families, everyone enjoys a large green park in the middle of a city.

Lark Lane street is famous for its culture and lively nightlife. It is very popular with young people and is a regular place to visit for University students in the city. The street boasts Cafés, bars, boutiques, music venues, and bistros.

7. Aigburth

Aigburth is located in the south of Liverpool and is one of the affluent areas to live in. Houses in this district are mostly a mixture of terraced and semi-detached homes.

The large detached houses are mostly converted into flats or hotels. This area is slightly out of the city center.

8. Crosby

Crosby is a coastal town a few miles north of Liverpool City Centre. It is popular with families and people who want to be close to the sea and beaches.

Despite being a fairly small suburb, there is a wide range of entertainment spots and also places to eat and drink.

The village is just a short walk away from the iconic landmark Strawberry Fields made famous by The Beatles. 

10. Heswall

Heswall is a very small town located on the southwest side of Liverpool’s city center. The area is the most sought-after place to live for many retirees who want to step away from the busy, loud city life.

The town has many high-quality dining options and also boasts many coffee shops along the high street. There is even a renowned local golf club with gorgeous views across the Dee and into Wales.

It is one of the most expensive neighborhoods surrounding Liverpool.
