15 Most Romantic Places to Kiss in London

While it may not be as famed for lovers as Paris or Rome, London is not without romantic charm. From parks to the theatre and cinema, not to mention all the sights, there are plenty of romantic places to kiss in London. If you are looking for a creative date idea, come summer or winter, you are in the right place. Below I have put together a list of the 15 Most Romantic Places to Kiss in London.

1. Kiss at the Electric Cinema

The Electric Cinema in Portobello first opened its doors in 1911. Since then it has been restored but remains true to its age through its exquisite vintage styled interior.

Stepping into the Electric Cinema is like stepping into the 1940s. Never mind the popcorn and Coke, here you can sip on champagne while watching the latest box office record-breaker. Red velvet and leather galore, the Electric Cinema is the perfect place to steal a smooch and forget which movie you went to go and watch.

The ‘Champagne Experience’ is great for a date and includes a glass of Pommery Brut Royal Champagne. If PDA is not your thing, why not get really romantic and book out a capsule for just the two of you. 3. Kiss at the Notting Hill Bookshop

Just a person, standing in front of another person, and asking them to love you? Then Notting Hill is your go to spot for romance. A romantic area even before the film (of the same name), Notting Hill has become synonymous with the soppy love story.

The bookstore that inspired the movie is still around today and is named The Notting Hill Bookshop. While no longer a specialised travel book store, it is perfect for perusing hand in hand with your lover and maybe sneaking a peck in between the book shelves à la Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

4. Kiss at the Bathing Pond in Hampstead Heath

Summer in London could not be more glorious. Most of the year gets spent tucked up in layers of clothes and shivering anytime we step outdoors. When summer does eventually poke out, we take full advantage. Since almost no-one has a swimming pool in London, the Bathing Ponds at Hampstead Health are a great place to cool down.

Just picture it – the sun is shining, the picnic blanket is out, maybe you have a good romance novel that you are making your way through and your partner is by your side. Like a little taste of European summer right in London, the Bathing Ponds in Hampstead Health will pair very well with a some romantic smooching.

5. Kiss on a boat on the Victoria Park lake

What could be more romantic than a tandem boat ride on a lake, reminiscent of the Notebook? Not much, in my humble opinion. The Victoria Park Boating Lake is the place to re-enact that scene from one of the most romantic movies of the 20th century. And since we’re in London, you may even get a similarly unexpected downpour of rain. Rowing boat or pedalo, the choice is yours. Either way, this is a smooch worthy location for sure.

Maybe it’s the scene at the fish tank from Baz Luhrman’s rendition of Romeo and Juliet, or maybe I was a mermaid in my past life, but for me, the aquarium is a perfect spot for cosy cuddles and kisses.

I mentioned earlier that Paris may top London when it comes to notions of romance. The winner of the most romantic restaurant in the world however, is a beautiful combination of both, with a hint of Tuscany thrown in.

Located in London’s Covent Garden, Clos Maggiore is a Provence and Tuscany inspired restaurant. With seating in an airy conservatory during summer and candlelit dining available during winter, this is a failsafe date spot.

10. Kiss at the Meeting Place at St. Pancras International

I know that underground tube stations don’t exactly scream romance but St Pancras is one exception. If you happen to find yourself here with your loved one, it would be cute to take some time to find ‘The Meeting Place statue’ (hint: it’s on the Grand Terrace).

The fun and excitement of watching one of your favourite artists and singing along to your best songs together will have the two of you feeling more loved up than ever.

13. Kiss at a show on the West End

Speaking of live performances, a visit to London wouldn’t be complete without a trip to its famous West End. London’s version of Broadway, the West End is home to all the best theatres and productions that come to the city.

14. Kiss at a picnic on Primrose Hill

One of the best views of the London skyline that the city has to offer, and with sprawling lawns to boot, a picnic at Primrose Hill is a perfect summer date idea.

Officially named St. John’s Lodge Garden, this has to be one of the romantic places to take a walk in the whole of London. Located just north of the inner circle of Regent’s Park, St. John’s Lodge Garden was created as a meditative space.
