10 Places to Eat Falafel in London

If you’re traveling to London on a tight budget but don’t like falafel, I suggest you start now.

Nowhere in the city will you find a more hearty and affordable meal that is readily available whenever you need it most. It’s everywhere, and for the most part it’s damn good!

These are my top ten picks for falafel dining in London town.

1. Mr Falafel in London

Markets in London are always easy finds for falafel. Mr Falafel is in the Shepherd’s Bush Market, and those who eat here, swear by it.

It’s run by Palestinian owners. And I too will admit that the quality and flavor are worlds away from any other budget falafels in the city. Enjoy it as a wrap or on a plate; toppings and sauces are unlimited.

2. Jerusalem Falafel in London

Most of the falafel you’ll find in London will be unintentionally vegan, but there are always the occasional spots that might use egg as a binding agent.

Jerusalem Falafel markets themselves as vegan friendly. They are situated in Soho and would be the most convenient, time efficient meal to grab were you to take a guided walking tour through this area.

Just £5 gets you their large portion, which will last you two and a bit meals.

Another spot that gives you more than a meals worth for just a few pounds. This is a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Fusion kitchen, so there is great variety in the different ways you can choose to have your falafel served.

4. The King of Falafel in London

The King of Falafel does outstanding food and service in a more formal setting that one usually finds for falafel dining in London.

It’s the closest falafel option to King’s Cross station; a neighborhood of rich British history, traditional architecture, museums and guided walking tours.

Given that they open at 8:30am, there are a few breakfast fry-up options on the menu as well.

5. Falafel & Shawarma London in London

There’s not much to say about Falafel & Shawarma other than cheap and tasty. This is the most affordable food option you’ll find in the west of Peckham, and it comes at no surprise that there is almost always a line out the door.

What is surprising is the positive, friendly attitudes that the staff managed to hold throughout the day. If I’m even brining it up it means it was incredible impactful.

At this time, Falafel and Shawarma are only able to accept cash payments.

6. Maoz Falafel in London

Because of how much I travel, Maoz will always be my most trusted source of falafel in Europe. There are branches all over the continent; as far as I know London only has two at this time.

At Maoz they eat, sleep, dream falafel. You’ll order either a pita or plate, select your number of falafel balls, choose premium toppings from behind the counter that will be applied by a server and then you are handed your creation and instructed to enjoy the salad buffet at your own leisure.

The buffet is open to you for the duration of your meal. You can go back for seconds, thirds even fourths if you so desire. There are sauces and chili available as well.

7. Pita in London

Pita is a kosher restaurant whose kitchen I would dub as Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fusion. Falafel isn’t the main focus of the menu, but it features here and there and it is delicious.

You can enjoy it as a wrap, a plate or as a hummus starter which is great with a side of warm pita bread.

8. Fennec & Parsley in London

I love Fennec & Parsley as a Lebanese diner; the food is fast, tasty and very, very cheap.

When it comes to falafel, they are a hit or a miss. I’ve had some great falafel plates here and then I’ve had one or two experiences where you can taste fresh oil hasn’t been used for frying. It’s a simple error to fix, here’s hoping they do.

9. Garbanzos Hummus & Falafel Bar in London

This falafel bar is just across from the London Bridge on the norther bank.

It’s a “build a bowl” concept in which you add each ingredient one by one, similar to how you would a poke bowl. While it’s not my favorite falafel in London (it has its dry moments) it is a great option if you find yourself in the center in need of something to eat!

10. I Falafel in London

I Falafel is a street food kiosk in Spitalfields. This is another spot where you can tell they are over the moon with passion for the food that they make, and it shows.

When there is a long queue you will be treated to free falafel samples while you wait. You also get a free drink of your choice with every order.
