Liverpool is one of the best clubs in the English Premier League – and the entire world. With arguably, the loudest and most revered home stadium at Anfield, the energetic fans, club history, stadium atmosphere, and lovable coach – Jurgen Klopp – have all made Liverpool one of the fan favorites in recent years.

Going back in history, Liverpool was founded in 1892 and became a powerhouse in the 1970s and 1980s. Rising to prominence and fame through their tenacious playing style and catchy club anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” supporting Liverpool is a way of life.

Jamie Carragher

Currently a football pundit, Carragher has had a lengthy career in football. Born in Merseyside, England, Carragher had a prolific career that spanned 17 years, amassing 737 appearances for his club over all competitions. He holds the record for the most appearances in European competition and is second in terms of the club’s longest-serving player. 

Phil Neal

Born in Northamptonshire, England, Phil is one of the most successful footballers of all time, having won multiple domestic trophies like the FA Charity Shield, League cup, UEFA Cup, European Cup, and UEFA Super Cup during his 11-year career at Anfield. He played for Liverpool between 1974 and 1985, earning 455 appearances and scoring 41 goals.

Ian Rush

Rush is a former Welsh professional footballer who was an infamous forward during his career, playing at various big-name clubs like Liverpool, Juventus, and Leeds United. He is Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer, with an amazing 346 goals in 469 appearances.

When comparing Rush to other Liverpool greats, he came in 3rd place in ‘100 Players Who Shook the Kop’ – a Liverpool fan poll that rates players based on their influence on Anfield. 

Robbie Fowler

Currently, a football manager in the Indian Super League, Fowler started his career with Liverpool – and earned a respectable 266 appearances for the Reds during his playing time. Known for his prolific nature as a striker, instinctive ability, technical prowess, and athleticism, Fowler is the seventh-highest goalscorer in the club’s history with 183 goals.

Graeme Souness

Playing in Liverpool for 6 years between 1978 and 1984, Graeme was a team captain during his tenure. He earned 247 appearances and scored 38 goals during his time with the Reds, being one of the key midfielders and playmakers to help Liverpool win five League Championships, four League Cups, and three European Cups. 

Ray Kennedy

Kennedy is an English footballer who has won every domestic accolade possible in football, many of which he earned with Liverpool between 1974 and 1982. During his 8-year stint, Kennedy earned 275 appearances and scored 51 goals, helping Liverpool become the most dominant club, winning the First Division, the FA Charity Sheild, the European Cup, the UEFA Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. 

Roberto Firmino

A Brazilian footballer known for his partnership with Mo Salah on Liverpool’s front line, this 29-year-old talent came to Liverpool in 2015 – and has been a stalwart ever since. He is known for his work ethic, movement off the ball, passing ability, creativity on the field, technical touches, and scoring opportunities. 

After signing for Liverpool in 2015, Klopp praised Firmino’s creativity and selflessness that allowed others on the team to break through and score important goals. He has so far made 211 appearances for the club and scored 66 goals.

Mohamed Salah

Arguably Egypt’s best-ever footballer, Mo Salah, is a professional who is known for his dribbling control, left-footed shooting ability, speed, movement off the ball, and creativity. Considered one of the best in the world at the moment – and maybe forever – Salah has had 4 amazing seasons with Liverpool since signing in 2017.

Salah earned 32 goals in 36 league games during his first season, breaking the Premier League scoring record, earning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and 2018 BEst FIFA Men’s Player award. 

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard is the face of Liverpool. Currently a manager at the Scottish Premiership side, Rangers, he spent nearly all of his career at his boyhood club – Liverpool. After going through the youth ranks between 1989 and 1998, he joined the first-team squad in 1998 and never looked back.

Gerrard earned 504 appearances between 1998 and 2015 for the Reds, scoring 120 goals during his time at Anfield. During his long career at Liverpool, he won the UEFA Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Footballer of the Year, Ballon d’Or Bronze, two FA Cups, and three League Cups. 

Kenny Dalglish

A Scottish-born former footballer who made 383 appearances for Celtic and 514 appearances for Liverpool during his playing time, Dalglish is also the record holder for national team appearances with 102 for Scotland. Earning numerous accolades, like the Ballon d’Or Silver, FWA Footballer of the YEar, and earning a spot in the Scottish and English Halls of Fame, Dalglish is one of hte best to ever play at Anfield.
