Top 3 Most Exclusive Nightclubs in Lisbon

When I first arrived in Lisbon, the concept of high end, exclusive or luxury nightclubbing never occurred to me. You’ll find yourself thrust into the very casual, raucous nightlife of Bairro Alto early on, and it tends to set the tone for evenings in the city.

Lisbon does, however, have some very stylish and exclusive nightclubs. You certainly won’t find any €1 tequila deals or wet t-shirt contests happening in any of them (stick to Bairro Alto for this).

For a classy night out on the Lisbon town, stick to any of the following three spots…

1. K Urban Beach Club in Lisbon

One thing that deters some people from the Bairro Alto nightlife is the thought of having to hop between bars throughout the evening. While this is in no way mandatory, the clubs in Bairro Alto tend to get crowded, overwhelming and sometimes a bit boring if you’re in the same one for too long (they’re very small) and so venturing to the next is only natural.

The K Urban Beach Club brought people a solution to hopping around. Here you can enjoy a chic dinner, followed by evening drinks, and move into a full night of drinking & dancing through until 6am. It’s a one stop shop for a full evening out.

The nightclub is built right on the water on the bay outside the Santos station. It’s not on the street or the promenade, it’s on the actual water. One wrong step over the patio’s edge and you’ll be one on one with the Tagus.

Naturally they have opted for a beach theme, which does very well to set the mood on summer evenings when the sun goes down later and one can enjoy the sunset right from the club.

Book in advance if you want to have dinner before the nightclub begins. Alternatively if you would only like to drink you’ll pay €14 to enter as a woman, and €18 to enter as a man. Upon entry you’ll be given a card containing most of your entry fee back to use at the bar; €12 for women and €16 for men. So essentially entry is only €2, they just want to guarantee everyone is there to spend money.

K Urban Beach Club gets very busy on Fridays and Saturdays, get here early or you might be denied access at the door.

2. Silk Club in Lisbon

It was completely unbeknownst to me that Lisbon was capable of this level of fancy until I visited the Silk Club for the first time.

Silk Club sits on the rooftop of a six story building in the heart and soul of Lisbon, Chiado. You’ll become familiar with this part of town very quickly on your first visit to the Portuguese capital; it’s the best place to eat, shop and take free guided walking tours.

Once you get to the top of the building you’ll be greeted by a very suave doorman who will explain the evenings proceedings to you and inquire as to whether you are here for dinner, the nightclub, or both.

The restaurant is attached to the club, and it’s a fantastic Japanese fusion kitchen with all the sushi you could want. Most people start here early and dine & drink until it comes time to dance.

The nightclub has a rowdy dance floor section, and a chill bar section. You can move between the two as you please, while basking in the unfathomable views that the rooftop has to offer.

What I like about Silk Club is that you can have a calm, relaxed, conversational evening here over drinks and food, or you can have a full blown rager. You’ll be treated with the utmost of service whether you’re in the restaurant or the club. Just be prepared to spend money; exclusive clubs in Lisbon don’t run cheap.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
OPENING HOURS: Tuesday to Saturday — 7pm to 4am

3. Incógnito in Lisbon

Incógnito is an exclusive Lisbon nightclub where focus is placed on drinking and dancing, & not on a dining experience at all.

The club is slightly west of the city center, in a local neighborhood with just a few churches, attractions and guided walking tours.

Incógnito is a beautifully curated space in which one can get lost in the music until early hours of the morning. They don’t allow you to roam in and out as you please, but if you do need fresh air at any point they have a beautiful balcony.

Entry is €5 per person which includes your first drink. The staff are professional and everyone who comes to the door is treated fairly regardless of race, nationality or sexual orientation, which isn’t always the case with nightclubs in Lisbon.

The music is usually a wild exploration of 80s synth pop and new age beats. This tends to attract much more mature crowds, and I would estimate that everyone in Incógnito be of thirty years or older.

All in all this is a great, exclusive night out in Lisbon but one that won’t break the bank just to enjoy. I recommend investing in their table service options if you can, very much worth it!
