The Best Bars near Pink Street Lisbon

Lisbon’s pink street is renowned and infamous. It’s known as the drinking hub for the youth of the city, and on any given evening you’ll find young travelers from all over the world spilling out from the bars into the street.

By day, the bright pink strip is a photogenic spot for some tourist pictures. By night, the pink of the ground gets lost in a sea of darkness and stomping feet.

Arriving without a set plan is the best way to experience the pink street of Lisbon, but the following bars are all great spots to look out for.

Pensão Amor near Pink Street Lisbon

This is my favorite bar on the pink street… if you can get inside. It gets incredibly crowded early on in the afternoon, even on a Sunday.

The interior is vintage themed, and all of the furniture is thrifted. There is also a pole room in which you might be treated to some professional pole dancing.

All of the cocktails on the menu are named after the women working in the bar. The barmen are exceptional, and though you’ll have to wait in line to get your chance to see them work, it’s always worth it.

I recommend starting your night out on the pink street here, as its closest to the starting point of the road. From here you can walk your way deeper into the alley and to other, less crowded bars.

Bookstore Bar Girl and Girl near Pink Street Lisbon

Trust Lisbon to have conceptualized a bookstore themed bar. At Bookstore Bar Girl and Girl you’ll drink between shelves holding hundreds of books. It feels nostalgic and somewhat cheeky, like sneaking alcohol into school as a youngster!

On weekends, happy hour extends through until 10pm. They also have live jazz performances in the space, which gives this spot a very different vibe to other bars on the pink strip.

The Couch Sports Bar near Pink Street Lisbon

Sports Bars are easy to find in Cais do Sodre, and this one lives down the western end of the pink street.

It’s wonderfully casual, and all are welcome in the space which results in a healthy mix of young and old at any given time. On Friday evenings this spot is particularly festive because there is karaoke.

As you can imagine, any major sports event is a festive occasion at The Couch Sports Bar — especially football!

One thing I must say about The Couch Sports Bar is that the food menu is simple, yet delicious. Greasy junk food to wash down with an ice cold beer!

Palheta near Pink Street Lisbon

Palheta is a unique hangout on the Lisbon pink strip. It’s a rustic space that is used regularly for different kinds of live music. Monday nights are religious for jazz, and the rest of the week’s schedule can be found on their social media platforms beforehand.

This bar is also unbelievably cheap. Shots of vodka cost under €1, and beers go for pennies as well.

4 Caravelas near Pink Street Lisbon

Whilst pondering where someone with a calmer nature might spend time on LIsbon’s pink street, I concluded that it would be at 4 Caravelas.

This is a small and somewhat secluded spot just a short walk from all of the main chaos that the strip features. Once inside, you’ll be greeted by nautical themed decor that pays homage to the age of exploration that Portugal is so famous for.

The ambiance at 4 Caravelas is like walking into an old friend’s house. The staff are very easy to chat with, the space is never overcrowded and you’ll always be able to hear what the person across from you is saying.

Espumantaria do Cais near Pink Street Lisbon

This is another one of the more classy spots on the infamous pink street. Espumantaria is a bar with formal table seating and a light menu to accompany your drinks.

They do great tacos that pair perfectly with a bottle of sparkling wine; prices per bottle start at just €8, which is very affordable given the touristic nature of the area.

You’ll never be disappointed with the music at Espumantaria. They keep it classic and old school; think 70s, 80s and older.

As with most bars in Lisbon, smoking is permitted inside of Espumantaria and there can be poor ventilation depending on how full it is. If this is something that bothers you, move along!

I recommend Espumantaria on a Saturday evening in Lisbon! Get here around 8pm to grab a good table.
