Best Restaurants Near Pink Street Lisbon

Lisbon’s pink street is a notorious landmark in the city center. Locals know it as a tourist trap, while tourists know it as a sure bet when you’re in need of some cheap beer and a good vibe.

The street’s real name is Nova do Carvalho, and you’ll find it in the far south of the city center, just before the Tagus River and Cais do Sodre Station.

The street itself has many bars, restaurants and cafes where you can spend your time and money. But the area surrounding the road is home to some fabulous Lisbon eateries that shouldn’t go unnoticed. I love all of the following spots:

100 Montaditos near Pink Street Lisbon

A short walk south from the pink street will bring you to a place known as 100 Montaditos.

This is a traditional Spanish eatery where the menu offers authentic tapas and the classic montadito sandwich.

A montadito is a sandwich classified by its “tapas size”. It’s usually in the from of a miniature bread roll and will contain an array of different fillings depending on the chef/customer.

As you’ve probably gathered by the name, there are over 100 varieties of montaditos to choose from at this eatery. If you come on Wednesdays or Sundays, take advantage of their €1 menu special for all of their montaditos.

Soi near Pink Street Lisbon

Asian street food is one of my favorite cuisines. It’s rarely done well in Iberia, but Lisbon has a surprising amount of places that are completely knocking these foods out of the park.

Soi is close to the pink street and is a haven for Asian street eats. The menu is incredibly diverse; essentially they’ve taken the best street foods from different regions and put them under one roof.

I live by their ramen bowls and curries, but all of their Pad Thais are phenomenal if you’re in the mood for something less liquid based. And of course, when you see bao buns on any menu, you order them.

A great spot for vegans and vegetarians!

Pesqueiro 25 near Pink Street Lisbon

Seafood lovers, this one’s for you!

Pesqueiro 25 is possibly the best place for seafood both near the pink street, and in Cais do Sodre. There is a perpetual festive vibe in the space, and people come from far and wide just to eat a platter here.

It’s not cheap, but once you see the presentation of the fish combined with the service provided, you’ll be over the moon to fork out the cash. Shellfish is one of their specialties, and this type of food you never want to cut corners with when it comes to quality.

Perqueiro 25 is a great spot for larger groups of diners as the seafood is easy to share and comes on giant platters. Smaller plates are available for anyone looking for a lighter experience.

If you have the pallet (and the patience) for eating crab, then I’d recommended doing it at Pesqueiro 25. Delicious!

Las Ficheras near Pink Street Lisbon

The diversity keeps on coming near Lisbon’s pink street; this eatery is a spectacle of traditional Mexican cuisine.

Okay, so it’s probably not the most authentic spot in town, but there’s something about las Ficheras that I just love. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully presented, there are always excited tables of friends sharing margaritas by the jug, and service always comes with a smile.

Las Ficheras’ menu is a variety of Mexican staple dishes like enchiladas and quesadillas. They also have some Tex-Mex items such as burritos and nachos (no, these are not authentic Mexican dishes).

What’s great about las Ficheras is that they are open until 1am nightly, which is much later than other restaurants in the area.

Time Out Market near Pink Street Lisbon

As mentioned, the pink street is a short walk from a very important tourist attraction to Lisbon’s city center: the Time Out Market.

This traditional market hall, built in the 1890s, currently holds around four dozen restaurants within its walls, along with an expansive floor space for tables and chairs.

Visitors will roam the perimeter of the hall until a cuisine they’d like to eat presents itself. It’s a very informal, casual place to eat.

What’s great about the market are the variety of cuisines on offer. From street eats to surf & turf, dried cod to baked treats; there’s something to satisfy every pallet.

One of my favorite eats inside of the market is the Croqueteria. This is a small stall that does traditional Portuguese croquettes using a recipe that has withstood the test of time. There is almost always a queue at this spot, don’t let it deter you!

At present, the market doesn’t open at all on Tuesdays. The operating hours are also tentative; some kiosks have their own individual hours that may not correspond with these.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Opening Hours: Wednesday to Monday — 10am to 12am
ADDRESS: Av. 24 de Julho 49, 1200-479 Lisboa, Portugal
Metro STATION: Cais do Sodré

I’ve you’ve yet to see Lisbon’s pink street by day, most of the free guided walking tours in the city will take you right through it. This is when you’ll really understand the pink hue, as the road is usually unnoticeable by night when hundreds of moving feet spill onto it from the outlining bars.
