Top 10 Best Things to do in Amalfi

Amalfi is a beautiful Italian town located in Campania, in the province of Salerno.
In 1997 this beautiful port city was then declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
Today I will take you for a walk in the alleys of this beautiful area of Campania.
Keep reading to find out more about the Amalfi Coast and its places.
We will find the Top 10 Best Things to do in Amalfi.

1. Amalfi

Very often it is underestimated and tourists do not stop to enjoy its splendour.
I recommend that you dedicate at least one day to visiting the beautiful Amalfi.
You can reach it from Positano or Capri if you prefer.
Don’t forget to admire the Amalfi Cathedral dedicated to the apostle Saint Andrew.

2. Hike “the path of the Gods”

Did you decide to follow “the path of the gods“?
You will find yourself exploring the ancient ruins, some villages and breathtaking landscapes.
Along the way, you will be able to admire the Amalfi coastline in all its splendour.
I recommend going out before the sun rises to admire the beauty of the rising sun reflecting on the sea.
Along the way, you can admire the villages of Nocelle and Bomberano less known to tourists. Once in Nocelle stop at the Lemon Point to taste some fresh orange and lemon juice and restore yourself after a very long hike!

3. Ravello

I recommend that you book Villa Rufolo in advance. It’s the jewel of Ravello!
The ticket price is only around 7 euros and the garden is open to the public from 9.30 until evening.
Don’t forget to visit Villa Cimbrone too.
Which will make you fall in love thanks to its immense garden full of roses.

If you want to amaze your sweetheart or your friends, I suggest you take a trip to “La Terrazza dell’ infinito”.
I recommend that you take two or three hours to be able to admire it all.

4. A day trip to the Island of Capri

A trip to the Island of Capri is a must once on the Amalfitan coast.
You can’t miss it.
Usually, a day trip is enough to enjoy the island and have a taste of good food but you choose!
And believe me, when I say, it will be difficult to go back home!
This island will leave you breathless due to its landscape.
The blue sea and the surrounding green will win you over!
Once there you can visit Ana Capri and Monte Solaro.
To reach the mountain you will have to take the cable car which in itself will be a really beautiful experience!
You can admire the landscape of Ana Capri and take beautiful photos.
Once you reach the top of the mountain you will see all Capri. During the descent from the top, stop to admire the Church of Cetrella, a very small religious place.

Don’t forget to visit “the blue grotto of Capri“.  A sea cave filled with blue reflections caused by sunlight reflecting off the water.

5. Furore Beach

Furore Beach This beach is one of the most famous on the coast. Red Bull uses it for its extreme shows thanks to the rugged coastline that characterizes it. If you want to have a different view of the beach then I recommend renting a boat from Positano or getting there by car and taking a nice walk before stopping on the beach to sunbathe.

6.  “Il Tridente” restaurant in Positano

If you wish to have a beautiful dinner then I suggest getting dressed up and booking a table at “Il Tridente” in Positano. This famous restaurant and cocktail bar is located on a terrace in the centre of Positano overlooking the rest of the town, the Amalfi Coast and the sea. It is easily reachable both from the main beach and from the other towns on the coast.

7. Atrani

Atrani is the smallest town in all of Italy with an area of only 0.12 km. This authentic Italian village is full of small residential streets where you can stroll and relax. This little village is located between Monte Aureo and Civita, right at the mouth of the Valle del Dragone. Rocky peaks and the bay below make it unique.

8. Drive through the coastal road

Through this path, you can admire the Amalfi Coast in all its splendour, of course, be careful!
You will find yourself driving along narrow curves and roads. But you can stop and admire the landscape in many “belvedere” areas.
The most scenic area is certainly the Conca Dei Marini.
I recommend you to admire the view of Praiano.

9. The Museum of the Paper

Once there you can admire and try to create the famous Amalfi paper that has made this area famous all over the world. Visits to the museum will be possible every day from 10:00 to 19:00 with the last admission at 18:20. The museum is also located near the famous Valle Dei Mulini. And also near the Ferriere area, a natural reserve of incredible charm and beauty. You will find the museum in the upper part of the historic centre, a quiet and uncrowded area.

10.  The tower

The famous “Torre Dello Ziro” is a wonderful attraction.
According to scholars, was the scene of one of the bloodiest episodes in the history of Amalfi. Giovanna D’Aragona, known as “the Mad” and Duchess of Amalfi, was imprisoned and then executed there. She was guilty of having contracted a morganatic marriage with her secretary.

To follow this itinerary I recommend comfortable shoes. The route starts from Pontone, the small hamlet of Scala, which you can reach either by bus leaving from Amalfi or on foot from Ravello with a short path.
