Barş Arduç is a Swiss-born Albanian actor best known for his groundbreaking role as mer plikçi in the Star TV series ‘Kiralk Aşk’ (Love for Rent), for which he received two ‘Golden Butterfly TV Awards.’

1. Barıs Arduc’s brief background history

Barş Arduç was born in Scherzingen, Switzerland, in 1987, as the middle child of real estate agents Gülay and Erol Arduç. On his father’s side, he is descended from Ordu, and on his mother’s side, he is descended from Artvin.

With his older brother Onur Arduç and brother Mert Arduç, he has three siblings. Arduç, who returned to Turkey with his family from abroad when he was eight years old, completed primary school in Sakarya and Gölcük.

He stayed in Bolu with his family after the earthquake in Gölcük on August 17, 1999. He had to get up. After finishing middle and high school in Bolu, he moved to Istanbul with his family in the second year of high school to finish his secondary education.

2. Barıs Arduc’s first experience with acting

After meeting theater actress Ayla Algan, he started acting professionally and began appearing in a number of supporting roles in series such as ‘Küçük Hanmefendi,’ ‘Dinle Sevgili,’ ‘Pis Yedili,’ and ‘Benim çin Üzülme.’

He broke into the industry with his recurring role as Selim Bayraktar in the series ‘Bugünün Sarayls’ and rose to prominence after appearing opposite Gupse Zay in the comedy film ‘Deliha.’ He has also appeared in the television series ‘Racon: Ailem çin’ and the films ‘Sadece Sen’ and ‘Mutluluk Zaman.’

He began his education in Sakarya and later in Gölcük, but after the district was destroyed by the 1999 izmit earthquake, his family was forced to relocate to Bolu, where he finished middle school. His family relocated to Istanbul after he finished his first year of high school, where he finished his education.

He earned a scholarship to Erciyes University’s Sports Academy in Kayseri after participating in volleyball, football, basketball, swimming, diving, and handball. Regrettably, he struggled to fit in at the college level and returned to Istanbul to join the Turkey Underwater Sports Federation.

He enjoyed sports but did not want to be a professional athlete, so he worked as a lifeguard in Şile for 8 years. He became interested in acting during this time after meeting Turkish stage and film actress Ayla Algan, who motivated him to pursue theatre training at Sadri Alşk Theater.

5. Barıs Arduc’s start of his career in acting

Barş Arduç started his professional career as an actor in 2011 with a supporting role in the television series ‘Küçük Hanmefendi.’ The same year, he appeared in two more TV shows, ‘Dinle Sevgili’ and ‘Pis Yedili.’

He rose to prominence after playing sports enthusiast and Trabzonspor hopeful Ahmet Avcolu in the 2012 ATV series ‘Benim çin Üzülme,’ directed by Mahsun Krmzgül and Serkan Birinci. His character, who died early in the series, won many hearts and was honored with a banner on Trabzonspor’s tribunes in his honor.

6. Barıs Arduc’s appearance on television shows and  movies

In 2013, he was cast as businessman Selim Bayraktar in the Turkish television series ‘Bugünün Sarayls,’ which was based on the work of Turkish writer Refik Halid Karay and directed by Kudret Sabanc. Since his first appearance in the fifth episode of the series, he has kept working on the show until the fifth episode of season two, which was cancelled due to low ratings.

In 2014, he made his film debut in the Turkish drama film ‘Sadece Sen,’ directed by Hakan Yonat. Nevertheless, he only had a minor role to play, and his character Emin only appears in the film’s final scene.

He appeared in his second film, ‘Deliha,’ directed by Hakan Algül, in November 2014, along with Gupse Zay, Cihan Ercan, and Zeynep Amc. In the film, he played one of the main characters, the handsome photographer irinceli Cemil, who was after Zeliha.

In 2015, he was cast as Tekin Atan, the adopted son and confidant of Kenan Korhan, played by his co-star Mehmet Aslantu, in the ATV series ‘Racon: Ailem çin.’ Regrettably, due to low ratings, the show was cancelled four episodes into its first season.

In 2015, he played mer plikçi, a young and successful shoe designer and businessman, opposite Elçin Sangu in the Star TV series ‘Kiralk Aşk’ (Love for Rent). The series, which aired for two seasons until 2017, was extremely popular in the Middle East and received numerous highly regarded awards and accolades.

In 2017, he co-starred with his ‘Kiralk Aşk’ co-star Elçin Sangu in the film ‘Mutluluk Zamani’ (Time of Happiness), in which he plays Mert.

8. Barıs Arduc’s awards and honors he has received 

Baris Arduc is a two-time award winner, having received the Sadri Family Theatre and Cinema Awards as well as the Golden Butterfly TV Awards (2015-2016). In addition, since May 2016, he has served as a Goodwill representative for the Life Without Cancer Society of Turkey. In March 2017, he received the GQ Turkey Award for “Mostly Spoken Man of the Year” 2016.

9. Barıs Arduc’s face was used for brand campaigns 

Baris was named the Arduque Derimode Company’s advertising face in 2015. The commercial, directed by Omar Faruk Sorak, set up by Alametifarika, and produced by Bosek Productions, featured six different females in a casino. Nihat Odbasi took a photo with the slogan “Derimode on my feet” for the proposed notice campaign. The campaign effort had its own space on TV, boards, websites, and magazines in October 2015.
