In 2016, Priyanka received the People’s Choice Award for favourite actress in a new TV Series for her role on “Quantico.”

2. Her parents were doctors and she did not mind the moving that came with it

Priyanka comes from a family of doctors, her parents worked for the Indian army.

Before they retired, they Chopras moved a lot.

They lived in several towns and cities in India like Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala, Ladakh, Lucknow, Bareilly, and Pune.

Priyanka enjoyed the experience that came with changing schools and regular travel.  

At one point she attended the 10th grade in Boston, where she said she was bullied.

3. Priyanka was once Miss World

After moving back to India with her mother, Priyanka transformed from being a carefree tomboy to a beautiful teenage.

This prompted her dad to take measures in keeping boys at bay by installing grills on their windows.

Her mother entered her into the beauty pageant when she turned 18. She competed in the Miss World pageant.

In 2000, Priyanka won Miss India as well as Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty of Asia and Oceania.

Growing up, she hoped to be an aeronautical engineer for NASA. This was before she won the pageants.

She later joined Bollywood in 2003 in her debut film, the hero: Love story of a spy.

4. Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ first American film audition was for Quantico

Before she auditioned for Quantico, Priyanka had never auditioned for any other role back in India.

The series premiered in 2015 on ABC, making Priyanka the first South Asian with a leading role in an American network drama series.

The series got several positive reviews from television critics and she was praised for her performance.

In 2017, she won a second People’s Choice Award for Favourite Dramatic TV Actress.

5. She owns a film production company

Priyanka, together with her mother, started their own production company called Purple Pebble Productions.

In 2017, she visited Zimbabwe to speak with child survivors of sexual violence.

10. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is close friends with Megan Markle

Priyanka attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

She first met Meghan Markle at an ELLE Women in Television dinner.
