With different religions and languages, these people live in harmony, and this is a good definition of unity in diversity. 

In terms of the number of productions released annually, Bollywood has the most compared to all other countries in the world. Who produces these movies? Well, the people on this list do! Here are the 15 best Bollywood Producers. 

1. Ekta Kapoor 

Ekta Kapoor is an award-winning Indian television and film producer and director. She is regarded as one of the most powerful ladies in the television industry and is the Queen of soap operas. Ekta was born on 7th June 1975 in Bombay, India, in a family of actors. She got into the film industry in 1992 when she was only 17 years old but her first shows did not do well.  

Ekta didn’t give up and she kept producing. Her first successful project was a sitcom, Hum Paanch, in 1995. She has done over 130 productions so far and has over 30 awards that recognize her input in the industry. She heads Balaji Telefilms Limited, a successful film production and distribution company.  Kumkum Bhagya is one of her most successful soap opera projects.

2. Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is an Indian filmmaker. He was born on 5th September 1952 in India. He is a half-brother to the veteran filmmaker the late Ramanand Sagar who was the creator of Ramayan, a TV series that was very popular in the early 1990s. 

Vidhu studied film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. He was so good that his school project won two awards. He owns Vinod Chopra Films, a production company that he heads and has produced so many films in India. Vidhu produced the Munna Bhai film series, 3 Idiots, and Sanju among others. 

3. Ritesh Sidhwani 

Ritesh Sidhwani is a prominent and distinguished Indian film producer. He was born on 19th August 1973 in Mumbai, India. He co-founded the successful Excel Entertainment and he is recognized for his visionary approach and contribution to the film industry. 

Some of his works include Mirzapur, Fukrey, Fukrey Returns, Phone Bhoot, Dil Chahta Hai, 3 storeys, Made in Heaven, and others. His works have been nominated for international awards. His production, ‘Inside Edge’, was nominated for Best Drama Series at the 46th International Emmy Awards. 

4. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is an Indian actress and producer. She was born on 18th July 1982 in India. She first came into the limelight when she represented India and won the Miss World Beauty Pageant title in 2000. Miss India and Miss World titles brought her recognition, and she joined the film industry shortly after because she received many offers for different acting roles in films. She is a successful actress in both Bollywood and Hollywood. 

She started her Production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, in March 2015. Priyanka has been producing award-winning shows and is among the most influential women in India and the world.

5. Farhan Akhtar 

Farhan Akhtar is an Indian actor, director, screenwriter, playback singer, producer, and television host. He was born into a family of filmmakers on 9th January 1974 in Mumbai, India. After school, he did different jobs in the film industry before joining hands with his friend Ritesh Sidhwani to form a production company, the famous Excel Entertainment. 

He has produced Honeymoon Travels, Don 2 – The King Is Back, Gully Boy, The Fakir of Venice, The Sky Is Pink, Toofaan, and others. 

6. Sajid Nadiadwala  

Sajid Nadiadwala is an Indian film producer and director. He was born on 18th February 1966 in Bombay, India, into the film industry with three generations of his family in it. Sajid’s grandfather was Abdul Karim Nadiadwala, the film guru, while his father and uncle were also film producers.  

Sajid started running his own production company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd, when he was 25 years old. Having watched movies since he was a child, this guy has several award-winning movies to his name and is one of the top independent producers in India.    

He has produced movies like Housefull 1 to 4,  Judwaa 1 and 2, Highway, 2 States, Baaghi 1, 2, and 3, Heropanti, Tamasha, and others. 

7. Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan

Gauri Khan is an Indian film producer and fashion plus interior designer. She was born on 8th October 1970 in New Delhi, India. She is Hindu and is married to Shah Rukh Khan, a Muslim famous actor and film producer who is referred to as the King of Bollywood. 

Together, they own a motion picture production company known as Red Chillies Entertainment that deals with film and television production, visual effects, and advertising. The power couple has produced many films over the years, including Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Chennai Express among others. 

8. Anil Kapoor 

Anil Kapoor is an Indian actor and producer. He was born on 24th December 1956 in Bombay India to a family of filmmakers including his mother and siblings. He started acting when he was young and is one of the most recognized Indian film actors in the world. He not only acts in Bollywood but has featured in Hollywood shows too like in Slumdog Millionaire and 24 the series. 

Anil Kapoor has been producing films for close to 20 years with his first film being the comedy Badhaai Ho Badhaai. My Wife’s Murder, Gandhi, My Father, and Aisha are some of his well-known productions.

Rohinton Soli “Ronnie” Screwvala is an Indian entrepreneur and film producer. He was born on 8th September 1956 in Bombay, India. When he was young, Screwvala had a keen interest in theatre and he used to act in school and in professional plays with Bombay theatre as a hobby. 

He used to manufacture toothbrushes before he ventured into cable Tv. Screwvala founded UTV which grew over time into a leading movie studio, a Games Studio, and a creative content company that is today’s Disney India. 

He founded RSVP Movies and this time he is focused on developing its own scripts and screenplays and producing awesome movies.  

10. Pooja Bhatt 

Pooja Bhatt is an Indian filmmaker. She was born on 24th February 1972 in Bombay India. Pooja is the daughter and niece of the famous film producers Mahesh Bhatt and his brother Mukesh Bhatt respectively.  

Given her family, she started acting at a very young age. She started producing movies in the late 1990s with Tamanna being her first production. Zakhm, Sur – The Melody of Life, Jism 1 and 2, Cabaret, and Holiday are some of her productions. 

11. Karan Johar

Karan Johar, popularly known as KJo, is an Indian filmmaker and actor. He was born on 25th May 1972 in Mumbai, India. His father, Yash Johar, and his maternal uncle, Yash Chopra were film producers. He started as an assistant director then became an actor and before long he was writing and directing movies.  

KJo runs Dharma Productions, a film production and distribution company that his father started. He produces films and works with other directors as well.  Kal Ho Naa Ho, Wake Up Sid, I Hate Luv Storys, 2 States, Kapoor & Sons, and Raazi are some of his productions. 

12. Aditya Chopra   

Aditya Chopra is one of the leading Indian filmmakers and distributors. He was born on 21st May 1971 in Bombay, India. He got into the film industry when he was young and started out as his father’s assistant. His father was Yash Chopra the veteran film producer and KJo is his first cousin.  

Aditya heads Yash Raj Films, a film production and distribution company that his father started. The company owns one of the largest film studios in India and other production houses hire them to use in their productions. 

Some of the movies Aditya has produced include Saathiya, Kabul Express, Tashan, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, and Shamshera among others. 

13. Guneet Monga 

Guneet Monga is an Indian film producer. She was born on 21st November 1983 in New Delhi, India. After her studies, she started her career as a production coordinator for international productions, then worked at Anurag Kashyap Films before going solo. 

Guneet started Sikhya Entertainment, a film production and distribution company that she heads and is based in Mumbai. She does international productions and was among the first producers from India to be inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. 

Some of her productions include The Lunchbox, Zubaan, ‘Period. End of Sentence.’, Soorarai Pottru  Masaan, and Taj Mahal. 

14. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is an Indian filmmaker who was born on 7th July 1963 in Delhi, India. His career began when he established a production company but he mainly focused on making advertisements. He made many commercials for companies like Coke, Pepsi, Toyota, American Express, and BPL, both in India and internationally. Afterward, he proceeded to make films. 

Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Delhi-6, Toofaan, and Mirzya are some of his productions. 

15. Aamir Khan 

Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan is an Indian actor and filmmaker. He was born on 14th March 1965 in Bombay, India. He started acting when he was 8 years old and was cast for a role in the first masala film in Bollywood. 

Khan began producing shows after he set up Aamir Khan Productions, and he became really good at it that he wins awards. His productions give serious competition to Hollywood ones in the Chinese market because of the great attention to detail, plus the content and quality are awesome. 

Lagaan, Dhobi Ghat, Taare Zameen Par, Dangal, and Secret Superstar are some of his productions.
