8 Ways to Celebrate your Bachelorette Party in London

Pack your bags girls, we’re going to England…

It’s finally arrived – the weekend you’ve been waiting for, planning for, preparing for. Some may think the weekend of your wedding is the most anticipated time of your life. The beautiful vows, the fact you’re going to marry the love of your life, and the venue being filled with friends and family, all there to support you and your soon-to-be partner.

But, you can’t get there without one crucial weekend, standing between you and your shot at happily-ever-after. Your bachelorette weekend. Commonly known as hen parties in England, these raucous days and evenings are filled with laughs, stories that will be told forever, and possible deplorable decisions. There are many ways to celebrate this momentous occasion in London – we have bars, parks, restaurants, shopping, and many other activities that will be sure to give you the best Bachelorette you could ever ask for.

1. Drink some Prosecco while seeing the city

If this is your first time in the capital city of England, then you are in luck. There are many activities that combine seeing views and drinking booze – making for a perfect Bachelorette evening. First off, you can take in the views while sipping champagne at the tallest building in the UK – the Shard. You’ll see this magnificent work of architecture at almost any point in the city – the pointy and distinct building rises up above the skyline, and has an easy-to-get-to address right by London Bridge station.

You will take the high-speed elevator lift up to the viewing platform – which shouldn’t be for those who are afraid of heights, or fast speeds. This elevator takes you up 800 feet in just 60 seconds, getting your adrenaline going before you even have a sip of alcohol.

When you arrive on the 72nd floor, you can enjoy the fancy class of bubbles while taking in the panoramic view. We would recommend this occasion for the first day in the city, being able to see the whole city you’re about explore.

Another adventure that combines seeing the city and having a drink while doing it is enjoying a London bus afternoon tea tour. Sure, there are no alcoholic drinks on this excursion, but the novelty of riding in a double-decker red bus and having traditional English tea can’t be beaten. Enjoying this afternoon out is the perfect cure for the lingering hangover, and lets you see the city at street-level.

2. Cruise on the river while having a few cold ones

For those who want a more high-energy and booze-filled party, we’ve got you covered. If you’re lucky enough to celebrate in the summer, the canals are perfect places to hang out and catch some rays. You can rent a boat for a few hours and take a trip down Regent’s Canal. Your captain will guide you along the water – and who can resist the added help of the designated driver, right? You depart from King’s Cross, a bustling section of London, and travel through the many locks, taking in the views across different boroughs and glancing at the Camden markets. You can bring your own food and drink, so load up those picnic baskets with whatever you desire and be prepared for a fun two hours.

3. Sing your heart out at Lucky Voice Karaoke

If you don’t visit during the great English weather (which lasts only 2 weeks a year), then you’re in luck. The English have figured out multiple ways to make the fun last indoors, bringing you pubs, games, movies, and theatre. For a Bachelorette, this should be music to your ears. We have our select favorites, of course. First off, we have Lucky Voice Karaoke. You rent out a karaoke-designed room for two hours, and sing your hearts out. There is a bar in any of the venues that you decide to visit, which you can use before or after your two-hour session. The bar itself is a great spot to hang out and dance after your private booking, and we’d highly recommend continuing the party.

4. Shoot your shot with darts at Flight Club

If you’re in the mood to continue the booze-and-activity trend, Flight Club is a well-renowned spot that all Londoners have heard of or gone to. Now, we usually don’t recommend combining alcohol and sharp objects, but we’ll make an exception for this one.

Flight Club does a perfect job of combining tasty food, loads of drinks, and darts – all into one, super-fun space. If you book for a hen party, then you’ll get your very own private space, with a seating area, darts, dartboard, massive TV to choose the specific game you want to play, and don’t worry, lots of room for drinks. You can choose whether to stop by for brunch, which includes a bottle of Prosecco (per PERSON), unlimited pizza going around, and a two-hour time slot.

If you don’t wake up on time after your boozy night the night before, you can stop by any time. Each reserved section can hold up to 15 guests, so don’t worry about having to split up your party – unless you really have that many friends. Each space is £40 during peak hours for one hour, and £20 for non-peak. If you have enough friends to make the price worth it, you could really stay here for hours, with the price averaging about £5 or less per person, per hour! And if you have a themed bachelorette party, the staff here is more than used to it, and more than welcoming.

This spot is a popular venue for birthday parties, hen parties, and really any type of party you want. So, don’t worry – you can definitely dress up as grannies, or whatever themed-night you have planned.

5. Keep the party going and head to Bounce for some Ping Pong fun

Last on our list of drinking and game establishments, we have Bounce – the self-proclaimed “social ping pong” venue. If you’re a sports girl, you’ll love it here. If you’re not, you’ll still love it here. This party spot has numerous TVs for live sports, to really make you feel like you’re playing with the pros here.

All you have to do is decide if you want to play Beer Pong or Ping Pong – or both. Ping Pong will only set you back approximately £5 a person for an hour of competitive fun. And if you’ve been drinking at Flight Club before this, then good luck trying to keep the ball on the table.

If you are less interested in the game and technique of Ping Pong, then you can choose Beer Pong as your game of choice. Not that being able to throw a tiny plastic ball into a cup at the opposite end of your table will be any easier, but the rounds of applause and cheers from your team when you sink a shot is undeniable, we agree.

You can decide between the classic version of the game, ringing in at £12 per 30 minutes, or the digital/new-age version, which is £15 for 30 minutes. The digital version uses projection mapping which basically creates some fancy computer game – we like this, but think it might be a bit unnecessary and hard to understand for our already tipsy hen partiers. Sticking with the classic game will be tough enough, trust me. After your game is over, the venue is still one of the best bars and party atmospheres you could be in.

Many of the venues have DJs playing some of the best beats, while parties and events are constantly going on throughout the locations, providing a great spot to keep the hen party alive.

6. Keep your party a secret, and head to some of the infamous speakeasies hidden away

Veering away from the game scene, you have many other options to continue your Bachelorette Weekend-to-Remember in London. London is known for many secret bars and speakeasies, which make you feel almost like a spy going into one of these hidden venues. The bar Cahoots has vintage decor, and uses old tube station memorabilia to make you feel like you’re sitting in a tube car, while sipping on cocktails, and enjoying the fact you found the hidden entrance.

Basement Sate is an upscale cocktail bar that also specializes in scrumptious desserts for your party to split. Nightjar gives you an extensive cocktail list, many different spirits to choose from, and Asian food for when the drunk-munchies hit. This venue gives you live music multiple days of the week, with old styles like ragtime and swing.

With a stage in this underground hideaway, this is a great choice for a more upscale night during your hen weekend. Last on our list of speakeasy bars, The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town is an exciting venue that will surely provide your party with a great night. You can come here for bottomless brunch, which we highly recommend for two hours of unlimited bellini’s or Bloody Mary’s, or you can come here for drinks at night and soak in the cozy and vault-like atmosphere. The coolest part about this location is the way in which you enter.

Take your group to the infamous Breakfast Club on Artillery Lane, a classic breakfast establishment that cranks out great hangover-fighting foods for your next day. Ask a member of staff “to see the Mayor” and they will lead you to a fridge. Yes, a refrigerator from what seems like the 1950’s, inconspicuously standing against a wall. Unassuming enough, right? Well, turns out this is the entryway to the candlelit secret bar, and you’ll walk through the fridge to the vintage bar, brimming with beautiful cocktails. Heading to a secret bar is a sure way to give you and your friends a weekend they won’t soon forget.

7. Adult Entertainment…done the right way

Continuing our pretend itinerary for the Ultimate Bachelorette Weekend in London, we venture towards some entertainment – for adults, only. You can head to the Hippodrome Casino in bustling Leicester Square to see – you guessed it – Magic Mike Live, a dazzling show of men up on stage, that basically strip in front of your very eyes, setting the mood for a steamy evening.

Unfortunately, Channing Tatum does not show up at your party, but you do get to feast your eyes on several men that look somewhat like him, so, we’d call that a win.

Continuing the night of entertainment, you could then head to a cabaret show in the popular venue, Proud Cabaret. This entertainment spot hosts burlesque, cabaret, and various dinner shows to satisfy any crowd. With two locations, one in the City of London, and one in Embankment, you have two options of where to enjoy your drag show.

We recommend checking out Opulence, a show that examines the impossible and extraordinary, with elite acrobatics, circus stunts, and extreme feats of athleticism in a luxurious and ritzy atmosphere. Combining dinner, drinks, and a fantastic show into one swanky night, this would be the epitome of a crazy night at a hen party.

Another extremely popular venue for hen parties is Tropicana Beach Party – we’d say this will definitely be a highlight of your weekend. With a super-central location at the always busy Covent Garden, Tropicana gives you the choice of a 2 or 3-course dinner, cocktails, and the infamous cabaret experience.

The sheer atmosphere alone will have you amazed, and the show will be nothing less than spectacular. You can purchase drinks packages and some private areas for you and your girl gang, such as surfboards full of shots and half-naked men catering to your every wish – almost. The numerous locations for entertainment and booze-filled-fun in London are never-ending, making all of these spots perfect for continuing your last weekend of freedom.

8. Keep it classy

Capping the list of what could make a legendary Bachelorette, we’ll provide a few locations for drinks that will satisfy those who are wanting a fancier night, to at least pretend like you’re ladies.

The Trafalgar at St. James is an upscale establishment, with a rooftop view to match. You can sit outside with some outdoor heaters in the cold weather, peruse the artistic cocktail list, and decide which nibbles you’d like to try from a worldly menu.

You could also decide to share a fondue between two, and wash it all down with a glass of Champagne. If you want to sit inside, you can sit in the lovely Gallery, with a birds-eye view of the city, or The Deck, a conservatory that provides a different ambiance that some will absolutely love. For those who want a private experience with just your fellow bridesmaids, you can book the ROOM – an enclosed private space, with glass walls to see a miraculous view of the city. You can come here for a bottomless brunch, or enjoy high-class drinks with some smaller plates while discussing the impending wedding.

Next, Tonight Josephine is a feminist’s heaven, with pink decorum everywhere you look, glitter splattered all around, and the decision to be somewhat classy (or totally hedonistic) at your fingertips. The motto of this place is basically – you get to do whatever you want. So, the choice is up to you and your fellow drinkers to decide what kind of night you want this to be. Entry here is free, but we’d definitely book this spot in advance to avoid any crazy-busy nights and having to get turned away at the door.

We wouldn’t want you to miss the chance at trying this extensive cocktail menu, with creations like the Midnight Flower, combining the always-popular gin, pineapple juice, and lavender syrup – yes, please. The girl-power ambiance, lovely cocktails, and freedom to spend your night how you wish has this up in the ranks of the best places to spend your bachelorette weekend.

Last Weekend of Freedom done right

Although London is well known for it’s high teas and lovely parks, the nightlife, entertainment shows, multiple drinking spots, and beautiful views make this a top choice for Bachelorette Weekend and Hen Party destinations. People will travel far and wide with their crew of soon-to-be bridesmaids to see what this famous city has to offer. And we have to say – this city offers a lot. The hidden bars, amazing cabaret shows, and never-ending cocktail lists make London the ideal place to spend your last weekend of complete debauchery with your girls before tying the knot.
