Situated right in County Galway in Menlo Village, the castle is a picturesque ruined building of the 16hth century grand structure. We recommend heading to Newcastle from Galway city center and taking the riverside trail on your bike or for a nice post-lunch walk.

When you walk far enough and head to the NUIG sports fields along the river, you can sit on the pier and gaze out at the ivy-covered Menlo Castle. To get up close and personal, cycle or drive to the other side of the river from Galway city, climb over a farmer’s gate, and walk down the rough track to the nearby ruins.
