Luchey-Halde, “the most urban château” in Bordeaux! It went from a wine property in the 19th century, to an army training ground in the 20th century, the Luchey estate was snapped up by the French Ministry of Defence. It was then bought at the end of the 20th century by Bordeaux Sciences Agro (the National School of Agronomic Sciences), who prefabricated completely a wine property, using technology and innovation at the return of traditionThe Chateau Luchey-Halde has a unique story: a reincarnation.

Amongst other things, the Chateau is also used to educate future winemakers. A tour takes about an hour. It is a must see!

The Saint-Vincent de Mérignac church is an ancient Catholic church, located in the epicenter of Mérignac, rue de la Vieille-Église.

It was built in the 12th century and is the oldest outlasting civil and religious monument in Mérignac. Built of rubble and enclosed with framework, the plan includes a nave , ending in a semicircular apse. The latter, framed by two apses representing the arms of a transept, is topped, at its crossing, with a bell tower in the shape of a square tower.

It has passed the test of fire a few times. In 1853, an unintended fire degraded its northeastern part to ashes. It then had another episode. During the night of August 28-29, 2001, she was struck by lightning and badly damaged. Part of the roof and the frame went up in smoke.

Placed in the commune of Mérignac, in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine is a French urban park christened the Parc de Bourran . It was designed by landscape architect Le Breton, in 1870. The park and its château were enumerated as French national heritage sites on January 9, 1992.

The Parc de Bourran estate is birthplace to the Château de Bourran. The day-to-day life of the Château de Bourran as well as its wine-producing activity can be recreated from this inventory. The estate produced between 38 and 80 barrels of red wine classed in the Graves up until the phylloxera plague.

There is a lot of culture and architecture here to absorb.

This district, which today has 12,978 occupants, takes its name from the “Glacière”, the round house of the Domaine de Bourran which was the hugest icehouse in France in the 18th century. Apart from being just an ice house to see, there are a number of hobbies one can do.
