Top 5 Places to Meet Your Tinder Date in Montmartre

Make sure to read our article Top 10 Things To Do in Montmartre before you start walking around Montmartre. This article covers you the best places to visit and gives you some great advice to make the most of your Paris trip.

I write this assuming you and your Montmartre Tinder date are meeting for the first time. From this standpoint, one needs a public enough space for the meeting to be in the presence of others, and entertaining enough so that awkward gaps are filled with some sort of action!

When it comes to falling in love, Montmartre is probably the best neighborhood in the world in which to do so. Can you imagine the stories you’ll tell the grandkids?

That being said, there are also real creeps out there on the internet, kids — stay safe! Here are the most ideal spots to meet your Tinder date in Montmartre, carefully curated into different times of day by moi.

For Breakfast: Cafe Renoir in Montmartre

The Cafe Renoir is found inside of the Montmartre Museum, near the summit of Montmartre hill.

It’s one of many attractions paying homage to the deceased artist who lived and loved in the village of Montmartre in the late 18 and early 1900s.

Renoir spent two years living inside the Montmartre Museum, back when it was still an artist’s residency and studio block. Subsequently the museum named the gardens and cafe after the artist, since many great works were made by him right here.

Meeting a Tinder date for breakfast in the beautiful Cafe Renoir means you not only start your day but also your first impression from the tranquil greens of the Jardins Renoir. The cafe offers light meals and breakfast pastries as well as a range of hot drinks & fresh juices.

What’s great about a first date here is that if it goes well and you feel like extending it, you’re already inside of the Montmartre Museum and can make your way through the exhibitions for as long as you please. Make it through to the afternoon and you could even partake in the garden wine tasting outside overlooking the Montmartre Vineyard — is this love?

At Midday: The Place du Tertre in Montmartre

Date or no date, the Place du Tertre should be passed through by everyone on their first visit to the hill in the 18th arrondissement .

The Place du Tertre is the historic public square of Montmartre. It is lined with 150 artists who sit here day in and day out creating original artworks for the thousands of tourists that come past.

What makes the square great for a first meeting with a stranger is that it is a) always busy, and b) filled with entertainment should conversation points run dry.

Set your meeting point for outside of La Mère Catherine. It’s the oldest bistro in the square, situated on the north-most boundary. You can’t miss the red awnings and checkered table cloths.

For Lunch: El Tequila Mexicana in Montmartre

Since we’re curating stories for the grandkids we may as well make the first luncheon together an unusual, memorable one.

The El Tequila Mexicana is a Mexican restaurant in the deep north of Montmartre, far further north of the Montmartre Cemetery than most people would ever go.

Since no one knows about it, you’ll be submerged into residential Montmartre as the locals know and love it.

The restaurant is vibey; a table on the street would be the best place to eat as the inside can feel a bit too sheltered for a midday meal. You and your date are best taking part in the €19 solo special, which gets you each three courses and a drink.

It’s a fun food journey to embark on with someone you don’t know very well. The tequila in the margaritas helps things along too, no doubt.

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday – 11am to 2:30pm

In the Afternoon: On a Free Guided Walking Tour in Montmartre

You would be both pleasantly surprised and slightly shocked at how many people make use of the free guided walking tours around Paris for their first Tinder dates.

The tours are great activities for dates in general, and since theres always people around and things to see, a Tinder date is equally as suitable.

The best part about a free guided walking tour through Montmartre is that the pressure for enjoyment falls away from the couple and rather onto the guide who is giving the tour. The potential new lovers need only tag along, chat amongst themselves and read one another energy.

Walking tours in Montmartre usually begin at the foot of the hill, near the Moulin Rouge, and work their way up through various attractions until ending at the Sacre Coeur.

This is ample time to determine if you like someone or not. The end of the tour gives you the opportunity for either a swift exit or a suggested continuation of the date over a drink in a nearby Montmartre cafe.

By Night: Au Clair de Lune in Montmartre

Take a seat at a table in Au Clair de Lune any night of the week and you’ll be able to pin point at least two or three blind dates going down within the vicinity. It is the place to be on a social evening in Montmartre; the perfect setting in which to meet your new friend.

Au Clair de Lune is an open early, close late kind of Parisian bistro. A place where you can eat Eggs Benedict at 8am and toss back cherry brandy at 10pm.

This bistro is a restaurant up until the sun goes down, when the vibe takes a distinct turn at the opening of their happy hour at 6pm. This runs until 10pm and you can enjoy €5 cocktails and €3 beers in the 70s style bar.

There is only the best funk, soul and reggae on repeat daily. If your date comments that they dislike this music — run!
