Everywhere I know in London, a football field is never far away for kids to play. A proper field, with real grass, inside a park, and with fresh air all around. Your kids will not play along train tracks or along the main thoroughfare. The air will be pure, with a canopy of trees as their skyline.

To get to their football field, the kids will walk all but 10 minutes. If they don’t like football, they will find rugby, and tennis, or whatever they might fancy.
I realize I am writing here as a father of two boys who like football. Not everyone matches this profile. But if you do, then London is heaven.

There are also local clubs using these facilities and providing training. Every school holiday (and boy oh boy, how often these school holidays pop creep in on you), these clubs organize day camps open to all. All-day camps that occupy the kids all day. And the prices are affordable for once – well, relative to the rest of London, these day camps may be the best bargain in town.

And then, you can take the kids to fabulous football games. London has 5 Premier League football teams. Do you know the 5? My kids take me through this list every so often. There’s Arsenal, and there’s Chelsea, there’s West Ham, Tottenham, and Crystal palace. Actually, no, there are seven, because one cannot forget Brentham and of course returning Fulham. Out of 20 Premier League teams, London hosts seven. There’s always some good game around. Always two London teams playing each other even two or more.

As important to my eyes, football stadiums are safe for kids and families. And Saturday games play at 3 pm – a long-held tradition. Also wonderful for families.
Please compare to where you live – how many top league options do you have, what time are the games played, and how safe are the stadiums?

I’d venture to guess that London wins this one…
