Selena Marie Gomez

Selena Marie Gomez is a talented American singer, actress and film producer. He is the daughter to Mandy Teefey and Ricardo Gomez. Gomez had a hard childhood; she was born when her mother was just 16 years old.

Her childhood was filled with so much struggle as her mother was forced to meet her needs at a tender age. Her parents separated and this even furthered their struggle. I believe she has shown resilience over the years from her successful career.

She chose not to be defined by her childhood struggles. Gomez first gained an interest in pursuing a career in entertainment watching her mother prepare for stage productions. Her career successfully began way back when she was featured in a children’s television series, Barney and Friends. The series targeted children between 2 and 7.

She later rose to prominence as she starred in the series, Wizard of Waverly Place. The series received a viewing of up to 11.4 million views at its premier. This made the series the second-most-viewed series after High School Musical.

I believe that this was her major breakthrough in the film industry. With all that viewing, she was set to conquer the film industry. Gomez has also been featured in other films that include, Another Cinderella Story, Princess Protection Program, Wizard of Waverly Place: the movie, Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo, Spring Breakers, Neighbors 2: Sorority,  The Dead Don’t Die, and Rainy Day in New York.

I believe her recent achievement in the film industry would be when she voiced the Character Mavis in the film, Hotel Transylvania. Gomez started her journey in the animated series back in 2012. She has voiced the character for the three movies however it was unfortunate o hear that the character would be no more in the upcoming fourth series.

I think she took up the role in the series with great enthusiasm. In an interview, she said she related to the series character. While one journey ended, another has yet to begin for Gomez.

Gomez features in a recent commend series, Only Murders in the Building. She co-stars alongside the comedy legend Steve Martin and Martin Short. The series was recently released in 2021 on Hulu and she does justice to her role. It is about crime adventures without all the dark disturbing violence. The show is a breath of fresh air and is absolutely my favorite show streaming right now.

A second season is yet to be released. I believe that Gomez acts in the series will be captivating as the first season. Gomez has also been in the production process of filmmaking. She was behind the production of the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and living Undocumented.

She was going to play a role in the series 13 Reasons why but she opted to become an executive producer instead. She has shown to be excellent both on the screens and behind the screens. In the other film, Living Undocumented, Selina shares her family’s undocumented immigration history.

This was courageous of her to reveal intimate details of her family`s life. She tries to illustrate the rewards of being undocumented in a foreign land. She is thankful for the bravery and sacrifice of her grandparents as they tried to survive in a foreign land.

The series Only Murders in the Building earned Gomez a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series and a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy series.

Gomez is known worldwide for her music. She has released albums and singles that have placed her on the map in the industry.  In her former band, she released three albums that were instead in the top ten on the US Billboard 200.

Her second album, Revival debuted at number one in the US and was certified platinum by the RIAA. This also placed Gomez in the limelight. Her debut solo album, Star Dance, topped the U.S. Billboard 200, while its lead single, Come & Get It reached the top ten in the US Billboard Hot 100

Gomez deserves the different accords she has received for her incredible vocals. She was named Billboard`s Woman of the Year and also broke 15 Guinness world records. Her efforts truly came through as she was named one of the top influential in 2020.

The actress and singer Selena Gomez revealed in an Instagram post that she had received a kidney transplant for her lupus in June. In this post, she revealed that her donor was her close friend, Francia Raisa,

She shows immense gratitude for the kidney and states that it forever remains an ultimate gift to her. Following complications from her Lupus, she canceled her tour back in 2016 as it had caused her anxiety and depression.

It is extremely courageous of her to come up and speak up about her illness and kidney transplant. There has been a positive impact from this as friends and fans alike have come and cheered her for opening up on her condition.

Gomez is one of many celebrities who have come out in recent years as living with invisible illnesses. The disease causes inflammations that cause joint pains, fever, skin rashes, and organ damage.

The disease is difficult to diagnose and may take a while before being noticed. The disease causes the immune system to target the kidneys, particularly the parts that filter your blood and waste products. 

This is what forced Gomez to undergo a Kidney transplant. When your kidneys are affected, it can also cause other pains.

Lupus nephritis has no cure and treatment involves managing the condition to prevent irreversible kidney damage. Where there is extensive damage one would need dialysis or a kidney transplant.

The fact that Gomes came out and openly admitted to having the disease has increased awareness of the disease. Gomez even goes further to state in a post that it had been difficult to show her scar. However, she has grown to accept her situation and is now more confident to show off her scars.
