Sam Smith Unholy Performance

So Sam Smith did a performance that will forever remain in the minds of people. This ‘unholy’ singer appeared in a devil costume while performing at the 2023 Grammy awards and boy! When I say it caused an uproar, I mean exactly that. I’m not sure what I feel about it. As an artist, I want to see the creative side of it since his song is called ‘unholy’ and therefore, the devil is the perfect example of what unholy should really look like. As a religious person, however, especially having been raised by a grandmother who was really into Church, I can’t help but hear her voice going like, ” Abomination! Blasphemy!” Seems like a lot of people would agree with my grandma because immediately after the video went viral, the internet went nuts. Lots of people made the conclusion that this was a satanic ritual, specifically paying tribute to satan and that anyone who attended this event was consciously or unconsciously recruited. Haha… I do feel like laughing because this just proves the theory of how people start ungrounded rumors and speculations, especially where the devil is concerned. I’m pretty sure soon the story will change and be like Jesus is coming soon and in fact, there’s even a specific date, and Smith was sent to prepare the way for the anti-Christ ( Well… I’m sure Jesus will come eventually but c’mon! Nobody knows the day nor time so stop with the speculations).

Anyway, I do admit it was a bit spooky, but then again, creativity has its ups and downs and the problem with the creative world is that when the mass doesn’t understand what the hell you have done, they immediately come up with stories and speculations. The problem with speculations is that they can easily bring the creator down. On the other hand, though, it is good to also admit that that performance could have nothing to do with creativity and everything to do with spiritual warfare. Honestly, we’ll never know. Only Sam Smith knows why he did that. The rest of us should just mind our own business and live life.

This is my belief. If something doesn’t sit well with you, instead of being the first one to cast stones all the while coming up with conspiracy theories, how about you just walk away? Coz I think all these conspiracies are not solving anything. If anything, they are making people scared and afraid to create. With that said, though. That performance was really spooky, nevertheless. That fact doesn’t change. If you’re pretty religious, you wouldn’t have helped yourself but always be like, “God forbid! In Jesus’ name!” What do you think? Was the performance more of a ritualistic session or just a creative one?
