Overpayment in football—ruining careers?

Imagine a world without football, and football itself did not exist in the first place. We can all agree that the world is changing, but that change is diminishing some critical individuals. I’ll take a close look at the football clubs. Are the standards that existed with football legends and clubs still in place? Is this a picture that will give us hope for tomorrow’s football? This can only be argued in depth by examining current trends in the football market. This includes the value of the club, player remunerations, market transfer value, agent fees, and taxes, among other transferable funds in the football world.

I’ll start at the beginning and ask, “Why are we turning football clubs into commercial clubs?”Are they concerned about tomorrow’s future or just what the present is worth? As time passes, most clubs will be unable to pay players in accordance with their contract terms. This has been caused by an unexpected and random increase in payment to the players. We recognize that players are talented and perform admirable work on the field, but the amount payable to the player is a point of contention.

Transfer Window has been used as the route to get these huge payments. A player known to be an average player by current standards, the amount charged to him will astound you. The football federation has been very restrictive on player transfers and market value for the last two decades. There appears to be a weakness at the moment, and clubs make their own transfer decisions.

This situation transports us to Manchester United, a well-known English football club. As football fans all over the world, we are all aware of the difficulties Manchester United faces when acquiring a player. A good player will be sold at a high price by a small club to Manchester. I’m not saying the player doesn’t deserve it, but something isn’t working right now. Due to the high demand for money by other clubs, the dreams of a player will be mothballed.

The player who wishes to play for this specific club will be unable to do so because the potential buyer will deviate from the negotiations because they are unwilling to pay for such. Why is this happening?

Agents pose a threat to the transfer market. Why would you buy and sell at a loss? Football clubs are doing terrible things, and they should be criticized while they are still happening. A player is purchased for $80 million, but when he is sold, the value is depreciated, and the player is sometimes sold for $40 million. Is this really a business, even if it is? Do we think about future footballers and generations? However, I believe that other clubs and agents are destroying the transfer market. Agents tend to demand large sums of money because they know a particular club is worth a lot of money.  The transfer saga of Barcelona player Frankie De Jong is a good example of this. Manchester United made a concerted effort to secure this player before the season began. However, the amount of money demanded by the club was insufficient to compensate for the service that De Jong can provide on the field. A determined player, his ambitions to play for Manchester United were dashed due to “Money.” Will talented and quality players be seen in the next decade if football clubs continue in this manner? I don’t believe so!

What steps are taken to ensure that players are not a liability to the team following the transfer? A player is acquired by a good club but quickly becomes a liability. Unless given at least the final ten minutes of the game, the player is always on the bench throughout the game. Clubs and managerial positions are under consideration?

To back up all of these claims, consider what Cristiano Ronaldo said to the media following an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan. He claimed that his rift with the manager was caused by his failure to earn minutes to play. Mark You Ronaldo was the highest-paid player at Manchester United. Imagine paying a player $500,000 per week but not allowing him to play. The club was forced to terminate his contract after revealing the “truth.”

Furthermore, footballers typically live extravagant lifestyles, squandering money that could be spent more wisely. Lionel Messi has a massive car collection that includes Ferraris and other supercar models. But how many of these cars will the star actually drive? Charities that assist such households are frequently in desperate need of funds- If top football clubs gave charities just a million pounds a year, it could mean a life-changing transformation for so many people—while the footballers themselves would be relatively unaffected. However, we cannot ignore the impact of some players, whom we wish were overpaid. Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, for example, asked the entire squad to donate 30% of their wages to charity. Others include Sadio Mane of Senegal, who ensures his community’s basic needs are met, Wilfried Zaha, who donates 10% of his salary to charity, and Mohammed Salah of Egypt.

Regardless of my strong opinions, I recognize that there are other points of view on this subject. It is important to note that football players have a 10-year career as opposed to the typical 40-year career in other jobs.

Let me conclude by explaining why Juan Mata used the statement to criticize overpayment and players losing sight of their power and talent due to money. This was demonstrated when he criticized a club with a squad worth $30 billion but was unable to win any domestic or major awards. The players became too comfortable with their large salaries and forgot to perform. The club still has not yet won any award despite paying the players large sums of money.

To be sincere, you cannot be paying players huge weekly wages, and in return, they are not giving anything to the club. Instead, let it not be called a football club but COMMERCIAL CLUB!
