Canadian sports history hugely constitutes hockey and basketball players because these are some of the most popular disciplines in the country. However, soccer is another discipline with its roots deeply engulfed in the country. 

Our highlight in the Canadian legendary players of all time is Owen Hargreaves. He is an ex-Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and ex-Manchester City midfielder. In the article are ten of the best Canadian players.

Alphonso Boyle Davies was born November 2, 2000. He is a Canadian professional soccer player He plays as a left-back and winger for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Canada National Team. He is regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world due to his pace, dribbling, and creativity.

Davies has played for four clubs in his entire football career. The teams he has played for are; Whitecaps FC2, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Bayern Munich II, and Bayern Munich. He has 103 goals and conceded 40.
Owen Hargreaves

Owen Hargreaves was born on January 20th, 1981. He is a professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He is known for his aggressive urge to get the ball from the opponents and provide his teammates with possession.
Hargreaves played for five teams in his career: Calgary Foothills, Bayern Munich,

Manchester United, and Manchester City.Hargreaves won four bundesliga titles,three DFB-Pokal,oneDFB-Ligapokal,one UEFA Champions League and one Intercontinental Cup with Bayern Munich.He also won one Premier League title and UEFA Champions League with Manchester United.

Jonathan Christian David is a Canadian professional soccer player born on January 14th, 2000. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in the United States. In his football career, he plays as a center-forward.

In his professional career, Jonathan has represented two teams whereby he played for Gent making sixty appearances for them. Two years later, he joined Lille and played a big role when the club won the Ligue 1 title and one Trophee des Champions. In 2019, Jonathan David was named the male Canada Soccer Player of the year.

4. Scott Arfield

Scott Nathaniel Arfield was born on 1st November 1988. He plays as a midfielder in his football career. Scott started his career at Falkirk then joined English teams Huddersfield Town and Burnley where he spent eight years in the English league. He is currently he is in Rangers FC.

Scott was in the Huddersfield Town tea which won Football League One play-offs in 2012, with Burnley, they were the winners in the Football League Championship in the 2015-16 season.

In his current team Rangers, Arfield has won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup. They also finished as runners-up in the Scottish League Cup in the 2019-20 season.

5. Atiba Hutchinson

Atiba Hutchinson was born in the year 1983 on 8th February. He is a Canadian footballer who plays in the midfield. Atiba played for Brampton Braves and Arnott Charlton in his youth career.

In his senior career, he has served seven clubs namely: York Region Shooters where he made two appearances, Toronto Lynx(4 appearances), Oster(24 appearances), Helsingborg(49 appearances), Copenhagen(139 appearances), PSV(80 appearances) and currently at Besiktas with a staggering 265 appearances.

In the year 2012 as part of the Canadian Soccer Association`s centennial celebration, he was named to the all-time Canada XI men`s team. He is also Canada`s record cap holder.

6. Tajon Buchanan

Tajon Buchanan is a Canadian professional soccer player who was born in the year 1999 on February 8th.On the pitch, he deploys his football on the wing. In his youth career, he played for Brampton YSC, Mississauga Falcons, and Real Colorado.

Tajon Buchanan has represented three teams in his senior career.  The teams include; Sigma FC where he made five appearances and scored two goals and New England

Revolution where he scored five goals and Club Brugge where he has made fourteen appearances and scored one goal.Tajon is currently a Club Brugge player but he is at New England Revolution on loan.

He won the Belgian First Division A with Club Brugge and also the Belgian Super Cup in 2022. He has also won individual awards such as the CONCACAF Gold CUP Best XI in 2021 and CONCACAF Gold Cup Young Player Award still in 2021.

7. Milan Borjan

Milan Borjan was born on 23rd October 1987. He is a professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper. He played for five clubs in his youth career namely: Dinara Knin, Radnicki Jugopetrol, East Hamilton SC, Mount Hamilton SC, and Nacional Montevideo.

In his senior career, he has represented eight teams namely: Quiimes, Rad, Sivasspor, Vaslui(loan), Ludogorets Razgrad, Radnicki Nis, Korona Kielce(loan), and currently in Red Star Belgrade.

He won the Serbian SuperLiga five times and the Serbian Cup twice with Red Star Belgrade and he was also in the Serbian SuperLiga team of the season in 2018-19.

8. Liam Fraser

Liam Fraser was born in the year 1998 on February 13th.he is a Canadian soccer player playing in the midfield. He played for three teams in his youth career namely; Waterloo United, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Toronto FC.

In his senior career, he has represented several teams such as; Toronto FC III making eight appearances and scoring one goal, Toronto FC II making 64 appearances and scoring twice,34 appearances for Toronto FC then went on loan to Columbus Crew and now he is currently at Deinze where he has made 10 appearances.

Liam Fraser was in the Columbus Crew team which won the Campeones Cup in 2021. He has made 138 appearances in his career and has scored three goals so far.

9. Dwayne De Rosario

Dwayne De Rosario was born on May 15th, 1978. He was a Canadian soccer player who played either as a forward or as an attacking midfielder for he was good in the two roles. In his youth career, he represented two clubs which were Scarborough Blizzard SC and Malvern Majors.

Dwayne proceeded to a senior career from 1997 to 2019. During this illustrious career, he played for a total of nine teams making a total of 408 appearances and bagging 133 goals.

He represented clubs such as; Toronto Lynx, FSV Zwickau, Richmond Kickers, San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls, D.C United, and Mississauga MetroStars.

He won some club and individual honors. At the club level; he won MLS Cup twice and the Supporters` Shield once with San Jose Earthquakes, won the MLS cup with Houston Dynamo in 2006 and 2007, he also won Canadian Championship twice with Toronto FC and in 2013, he won the U.S.Open Cup with D.C United.

He won individual awards in plenty such as the MLS MVP Award in 2011, MLS All-Star from 2006 to 2012, and MLS Best XI in 2005,2006,2007,2009,2010,2011. He won the MLS Golden Boot in 2011, the MLS goal of the year Award in 2004,2005, and the George Gross Memorial Trophy in 2009 and 2010. He was also the Canadian player of the year in 2005.

10. Lucas Cavallini

Lucas Daniel Cavallini was born on December 28 in the year 1992. He is a Canadian professional football player who plays as a forward. He has represented two teams in his youth career: Club Uruguay Toronto and Clarkson Sheridan SC.

In his senior career, he has played for six clubs namely; Nacional, Juventus, Fenix, Penarol, Puebla, and currently at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. As a forward, he already has 89 career goals. Cavallini has one team honor: he won the CONCACAF in 2022 with Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
