Best things to do in Paris third district
As you may know, the city of Paris is divided into twenty different arrondissements, which are administrative districts. They are all different from one another for several reasons. Each district is special in its own way. If you’re coming to Paris, you will visit many of them for sure! Some are more touristy than others. Some are quieter than others! But all of them are definitely worth the visit.
Today, I will be writing about Paris third district! Paris third district belongs to the Marais neighborhood, it is known as the Haut-Marais, which is the Northern Marais. The Marais used to be an old marshy zone. But since the twelfth century, some religious orders and members of the Parisian aristocracy established there. Nonetheless, after the French Revolution, wealthy landowners were chased and plenty of craftsmen and workers occupied the mansions of the Marais and built workshops in inner courtyards.
The Northern part of the Marais is a very interesting place for lots of reasons. Thanks to its close location to the Centre Pompidou and to the opening of the Picasso Museum in 1985, Paris third district is full of museums, art galleries, “hôtel particuliers”, that provide an awesome walk in the city of Paris.
