The Best Restaurants in El Born, Barcelona

El Born is considered to be one of Barcelona’s up and coming, most vibrant districts. It’s the perfect mix between medieval and trendy; like the sweet spot of history fuzing perfectly with modern era.

As a result, el Born now has a thriving entertainment scene that is supported by hundreds of fantastic restaurants. You can eat the flavors of the world, all within this tightly knit community, and of course sample some of the best local cuisine around.

What to See in the el Born Area in Barcelona

Here are some of the very best restaurants in el Born, all tried and tested by yours truly.

Ten’s Tapas Restaurant in El Born, Barcelona

Ten’s is situated inside of the Park Hotel. It’s the brainchild of Chef Jordi Cruz, who happens to be the youngest ever person to be awarded a Michelin Star. Now that he has 4 of them under his belt, he is serving up custom tapas from this flavorsome establishment in the heart of el Born.

The menu is traditionally Spanish, but with a Michelin Star flair (obviously). Jordi also does weekly specials depending on what ingredients he manages to get his hands on, or what has become available in season.

You’ll want to visit Ten’s with a friend or partner. The portions are better suited to sharing between two, so you’ll get to have the full experience of the menu this way.

If you do anything at Ten’s, please (I beg of you), do not leave without trying Jordi’s famous patatats bravas dish. It will make the entire trip to Barcelona worthwhile in just one bite. You also don’t want to miss the oyster ice cream — trust me.

Bodega la Puntual in El Born, Barcelona

Situated just a short walk from the Picasso Museum, Bodega la Puntual is the real deal when it comes to Catalonian inspired tapas dining.

This spot has become somewhat of an institution for both locals and travelers to Barcelona. As you enter into the somewhat compact dining room, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find the space opens out into a multi-level tapas bar with ample room for the traffic it attracts.

The Best Non-Touristy Restaurants in Barcelona

The best way to dine at Bodega la Puntual is to simply order whatever on the menu catches your eye. It really is that simple, because all of the dishes are made to perfection and there are truly no mistakes.

The traditional Catalan cod fish is a crowd favorite, as is the Russian salad with tuna belly. Price wise, this spot isn’t cheap, but the experience is well worth it and the service is a great addition.

La Carassa in El Born, Barcelona

Yes, I’m about to recommend a French restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, and with good reason.

La Carassa is a traditional fondue restaurant operating in fusion with traditional Catalan cooking. Technically speaking, it’s both French and Spanish, and the experience of it is something incredibly memorable.

A short walk from el Born’s Arc de Triomphe will bring you to Nakashita, the Brazilian-Japanese fusion dining dream in the heart of Barcelona.

The intimate restaurant welcomes one and all for a night of fine sushi and memorable drinks, accompanied by a range of gyoza and tempura. Think melt-in-your-mouth fresh sashimi served a variety of ways.

Hamburguesería Bacoa Kiosko in El Born, Barcelona

Esteemed chef, Brad Ainsworth, opened up his latest project right in the heart of el Born. Kiosko is his rendition of gourmet hamburger dining, and it’s absolutely out of this world.

His goal? To dissolve any negatively that lingers around fast food, and reintroduce people to the art of the cuisine. Vegetarians and meat eaters dine as one at Kiosko, with options to satisfy every palate.
