The Best Health & Fitness Supplement Stores in Bangkok

If you are planning on visiting Thailand, or more specifically Bangkok, and you are wondering which of your health supplements or pre-workout gym powders you’ll be able to get through customs…well never fear -– you can get them here!
If you’re the type who doesn’t like to stray too far from your nitric oxide and whey protein powders but didn’t quite have the space in your case, you’ll be pleased and relieved to hear that Thailand is a nation that’s vitamin and dietary supplement-crazy.
Although a decent range of health & fitness supplements seems to have taken forever to fully integrate itself onto the shelves of store in Thailand, over the last decade or so there has been a definite surge in both the availability and quality of products. The market currently has high potential due to strong demand, and as it is highly competitive do to an abundance of both local and imported brands, the range and quality of both fitness performance products and health-oriented products has been on the up for a while.
Always suckers for the promises of glitzy advertisers and endorsements from good-looking celebrities, Thais are among the top consumers of vitamins and other forms of dietary and fitness supplements in the world. Going back just a couple of years, the sales value of dietary supplements in Thailand was estimated at close to $2 billion!
So fear not fitness and health buffs – whey protein in Bangkok? Absolutely! What about vegan protein powders or stevia? No problem. In fact, although it’s possible that you may not be able to get exactly the same brands as the ones you are used to back home, these days even the majority of shopping malls in the Thai capital have their own little vitamin and supplement counters.
The only downside is that these products are going to be a little more expensive than back home, especially if they are imported brands, and local brands have yet to reach the scale of mass acceptance or production – so be prepared for that – but going back as little as a decade or so you were lucky if you could find anyone who even knew what whey protein was, let alone nitric oxide or plant proteins.
So let’s take a look at some of the current best health and fitness supplement store options on offer in Bangkok.
1. Thai Sports Supplements Co., Ltd
Here we have a company that was actually founded as far back as 2003 with the aim of providing the best sports nutrition products in Thailand.
The company came into being with the intention of supplying a wide range of brands to Thai consumers, albeit fully aware of the fact that there was not only a lack of product on offer in the country, but also that any available supplements (including imported brands) were rarely backed by research or the inclusion of quality ingredients that usually turned out to be ineffective or possibly even harmful.
So what that means in simple terms is that the company and its store selects a handful of what they consider to be premium brands to include in their stocks, with a focus on names with proven track records of performance and ingredients. This may mean that they don’t necessarily come cheap, but the ethos is that you get what you pay for.
Unlike many suppliers in Thailand the store only contains registered products imported direct from source that are visited beforehand, with no middlemen involved to speak of. This goes against the norm in many ways in a country where supplement regulations are still considerably strict, which unfortunately means a plethora of products with forged documents and even fake items.
The upside of this is that the company is the official distributor for the brands that they sell as a partnership and hence only supplies products that are approved by the Thai FDA, recognisable from the 13 digit FDA number displayed on the side of each tub. This also means that no products yet to be legal in Thailand are included in the range, which could possibly affect the availability of some products that people from overseas may be familiar with.
With a Thai FDA approved storage facility and a proper office, the Thai Supplement Co., is located in the central echelons of Bangkok on the Sukhumvit Road, and welcomes drop-ins during the week.
Location: 273 Soi Sawatdee, Khwaeng Khlong Toei Neua, Khet Wattana, Bangkok 10110

2. Nutrition Depot
Nutrition Depot is another Thai FDA-approved company that appeared a few years back to fuel the gradually increasing demand for certified high-quality gym supplements.
Again the main drive of this company is to supply tried and tested products in terms of efficiency, and perhaps more importantly, safety, in the South East Asian region. At nutrition Depot you’ll find a wide variety of fitness, sports, and bodybuilding supplements from an international brand with reputable Q.A. procedures.
Whether you are a travelling hardcore fitness buff or a 3-times-a-weeker looking to optimise you’re your gym time, you’ll find something on the shelves of Nutrition depot stores to help you on your way. You’ll find a range of mass gainers, whey proteins, and lean muscle mass-inducing combinations of products, along with recovery and endurance aids including brands and names like Nutrex, Cellucor, MuscleTech, BSN and Venum, to name but a few.
Unlike many the majority of suppliers and stores in Thailand and Bangkok, you’ll also be pleased to find that the staff in Nutrition Depot are actually trained and able to offer advice regarding the products that are sold and stocked in relation to your requirements and training styles..

This store was one of Bangkok’s first health food stores, and has long catered to those with specific dietary requirements, whether vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or just anything pertaining to a healthier lifestyle.
You won’t likely find so much along the lines of nitric oxide or beta-alanine pre-workouts in this store, but you will find SunWarrior and a few other brands of plant-based protein powders and bars if whey is not your thing. You’ll also find a range of super foods, supplements and vitamins, along with natural, organic cosmetic products, and healthy, alternative natural remedies for a range of common ailments and conditions.
Sunshine Market also provides healthy, organic ingredients for any meal preparation that you might be akin to undertaking yourself that caters to a variety of dietary lifestyles.

4. Fit Whey
You couldn’t go far wrong in assuming from the name that this particular brand’s focus in on whey protein, and is aimed in particular at fit people.
The company has been in operation for almost a decade and was one of the first in Thailand to capitalise on the whey boom that came from the burgeoning fitness industry in the country. The store operates something known as a ‘Fit Whey Sure’ Program that guarantees the authenticity and purity of the product, aimed at building and maintaining the customer satisfaction that has been key to their business since its beginnings.
If you’ve never been to Thailand before, it is well worth knowing that there is a lot of garbage being offered when it comes to whey protein (as indeed there is in many other countries), so Fit Whey has made efforts to focus the customers’ attention on the quality of their products which currently includes over 30 different brands of whey and whey products..
By and large this means that the products protein quality is evaluated regularly (apparently on a monthly basis) and the relevant labelling and lot numbering helps to maintain quality standards.
