Want to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter, but don’t have any children in your group? Not sure if it’ll be suitable for adults or enjoyable without kids? Read on to find out why experiencing the tour as an adult is the absolute best way to do it!

1. Harry Potter is timeless, and you’ll get all the nostalgia feels

On paper, the Harry Potter book and film series could seem to be just aimed at children. After all, there’s magic, mischief, fantasy animals and it’s all set in a school. However, all dedicated Harry Potter fans know that the stories are complex and the messages are timeless. The saga teaches valuable lessons about equality, respect and morality. All of its emotional moments are strong enough to stay with you, whether you discover them at age 5 or 50. The complexities of the stories require concentration and a good memory, meaning that the books or films often improve once you read or watch them again as an adult.

As such, the series is enjoyable and valuable for all ages, meaning that everyone can experience and get excited about visiting the studios tour, whether you’re visiting with children, as a couple, or in a group of friends. Whether you’ve been a fan all your life or are just discovering the Wizarding World, the fantasy of the studios will be a magical experience.

2. You probably grew up with Harry Potter

The era of the Harry Potter book and film series has an incredible fourteen year span, from the first novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone published in 1997, to the release of the final film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011. Not forgetting, of course, the ongoing Wizarding World empire, which includes the prequel series Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. This means that, no matter what age you are, Harry Potter will likely have been around for a significant portion of your life. And if you’re in your teens, twenties, or thirties, it will probably have been a big part of your formative years, maybe even shaping the way you viewed the world each and every year.

Either way, it’s only right that adults get to enjoy the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter just as much as children, if not more. After all, the tour will likely bring back all sorts of past delights for you, whether it’s memories of queuing for the latest book at your local bookshop, or buying tickets for the first showing of the new film to see with your friends. It’ll make you appreciate it a whole lot more!

3. The Studios Tour is not just for kids

Sunday Post

It’s true that the Harry Potter series is made up of mostly family friendly films. Sure, there’s some scary and violent moments, but nothing that will upset children too much. This is why the tour is so fun for families, as little ones can enjoy the magic without experiencing anything too scary. However, there’s plenty of attractions and activities to see and do which provide a bit more of a scare, perfect for adults rather than children.

If you choose not to heed Dumbledore’s warnings not to venture into the Forbidden Forest, the trail will take you through the dark, dense trees, creating a scary atmosphere more suited to adults. Along the way, you’ll encounter an intimidating full size Hippogriff and eventually reach the nest of Aragog, for a hair-raising up-close encounter with the colossal 18-foot spider from the second film. Don’t forget a visit to the Basilisk’s lair, where the 30-foot animatronic reptile gets hearts racing.

The tarantula and snake are strikingly realistic, an experience which adults will surely find thrilling but which may be too intense for younger children. This means that, when visiting as an adult, you’re freely able to fully enjoy all the aspects of the tour, without worrying about anything becoming too overwhelming for you or other members of your group.

4. The tours have a lot of detail and complexities that adults can appreciate

The standout aspect of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter has to be discovering the sheer attention to detail which went into each and every frame of the eight films. Moments, props and scenery which may have passed by the viewer within seconds took thousands of people months to craft, and almost all of them have been perfectly preserved for you to enjoy along the tour.

Children will find the Harry Potter surroundings fun and magical, but it’s the attention to detail which makes the tour so special, and that can only really be appreciated by those old enough to understand. Whether it’s the hundreds of delicate china plates adorned with fluffy kittens which made Dolores Umbridge’s office so unbearable, or the multitudes of vintage books produced to line the shelves of Hogwarts’s magical library, it’s truly humbling to see the work and skill which went into every aspect of the films, no matter how small.

Well over 500 sets were created for the eight films in the series, and you can only really appreciate how much work this took when you take a long tour through every perfectly created set and room. You also not only get to see the finished products, but also the initial sketches, blueprints and concept models for the filmmakers initial ideas. This makes the tour perfect for adults interested in the magic of the movies, or anyone old enough to appreciate the work that went into their favourite film series.

5. There’s lots of awesome adult friendly events

There’s nothing better than the seasonal events at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter.

This winter, adult visitors will find all sorts to keep them entertained. Spooky Halloween fun abounds with the Dark Arts event, a festival of dueling and Death Eaters accompanied by bucket loads of slime, or Hogwarts After Dark, a one of a kind Halloween dinner experience in the Great Hall. As Christmas fast approaches, there’s the opportunity to get festive with Hogwarts in the Snow, as the castle decks itself out for the Christmas period, or you can even splash out for a special Christmas dinner in The Great Hall.

These exclusive events are not just designed for families, and in fact the dinner events are strictly for over-18s only and run until midnight. They also involve classy Prosecco and canapé receptions, perfect for a grown up gathering or lavish date. In creating events aimed exclusively at adults, the Harry Potter Studio Tour is clearly saying adults are welcome!
