You’ve finally landed in the Czech Republic. You’ve made it through baggage claim, customs, the metro ride, and are almost at your accommodation. And then…you broke a nail.

The dreaded accident that so many female travelers worry about. Whether you broke a nail whilst towing your suitcase, or in some other obscure way, you’ve just arrived in Prague, and with everything in a foreign language you really have no idea where to go.

Say no more, Barbie, we’re here to help. We’ve compiled a list of the best nail salons in Prague to suit your every need and price range to help for ‘emergencies’ like this one. Carefully drag your suitcase the remaining 200 yards to your Stare Mesto apartment, and then start reading. Be careful scrolling on your phone without your hurt nail though…

1. Dominion Nails – for the luxury traveler

First up, we have Dominion Nails located in the trendy Vinohrady neighborhood. Pop over to one of the many nearby cafes and bars to get some refreshments before heading to the salon on Belgicka. Once you enter the salon, you can really see the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff.

The decor is upscale, modern, but still provides a comfortable and relaxed environment. The staff is smartly-dressed and always welcomes you with a smile. For those who might be traveling outside of your country for the first time, you can relax a little – this is an English speaking nail salon, so you won’t have to try out any of your learned Czech phrases here.

This all-natural nail salon wants to provide you with high-quality and beautiful nails without sacrificing health and exposing you, and your technician, to toxins and chemicals in the products. They use well-known and respected brands like LCN, Logo CompetenceIN Beauty,  and GEHWOL, a German company that was founded in the 19th century and has been putting out high-end product ever since.

In order to keep the all-natural theme, this salon doesn’t offer acrylic nails. This is good for those who don’t particularly like the smell of the nails or the sounds of the miniature buzz saw they use to shape the nails, but obviously won’t be the preference of some who consistently get fake nails.

The prices of manicures range from $20 for an express manicure, including some cuticle work and application of 7-day nail polish to $45 for a gel polish one-hour manicure.

If you want some extra-long nails, you can get sculpted extensions of your gel nails for $80 – not for the budget traveler, but for those who want nails that make a statement and will last a long time, this is a good choice for you.

Pedicures start at $33 and extend to $55 for a service that includes callus removal and cuticle work. If you want a luxury experience that you can be sure will take good care of your feet and hands, this is the place to go.

2. STARNAILS – for the budget traveler

Number two on our list is STARNAILS. Located in Prague 1 in the Mustek district, this nail salon is open every day from 10 am-8 pm (except for Sundays when they close at 4 pm). The convenient location keeps this salon always busy, being only a few minutes away from the bustle of Old Town.

Being a little tricky to find, it can keep some of the tourists at bay – you have to enter via Debenhams and take the escalator to the basement. Unfortunately, if you want to look at the streets and people-watch while getting your nails done, this isn’t the best place since it’s below ground. If you want great nails, then check it out.

An unpretentious exterior with a neon-signed Star Nails gives you a surprise when you walk inside – the salon is very clean, with marble counters and floors, and a white color scheme that looks modern. All of the nail colors are lined up against the wall for you to easily see your options – they also do acrylics here unlike Dominion, and can be the saving grace for the fake-nail mavens.

The staff here is friendly and welcoming, and you won’t necessarily need an appointment to be able to get a mid-day service. The salon uses all O.P.I. and CND Shellac products, and offers callus removal and cuticle shaping in their manicure and pedicure services.

The prices here reflect the unassuming exterior – you can get a shellac mani-pedi for only $40. If you want a fancy nail salon, then this isn’t it. This is great for those on a budget who want a quick fix. Even though the prices are cheap, the service quality isn’t.

The technicians are friendly, do good work, present a clean salon, and offer you something to drink during your time there. We recommend this spot for budget travelers or those who need to quickly fix their nails.

3. Nail Bar – for quality work at a mid-range price

Next on this nail salon guide in Prague, we have Nail Bar, also known commonly as N.Bar. The cozy and brightly colored waiting area, inviting storefront, and cool light fixtures immediately make you want to stay in this salon all day. The aqua-colored detailing matches the walls, with modern hanging lights and comfortable seating let you relax and feel good about your choice as soon as you enter the store. If you have any doubts before coming inside, the price list is neatly displayed on the window, letting you see if you have enough in your bank account for a little splurge (or if you’re just going to continue piling on your credit card, that works too).

This salon doesn’t skimp on decor – and it doesn’t on products either. The salon here uses the best global brands for long-lasting nail treatments. The technicians here make safety and health a top priority, using a three-step sterilization process on every instrument.

Manicures range from $12 for an express to $32 for a manicure with permanent nail polish using O.P.I. Gelcolor. If you want to get a set of new gel nails, it will set you back $43 and a new set with permanent nail polish using O.P.I. Gelcolor is $52.

Honestly, for how long the gel nails last and the quality of service, $52 isn’t a bad price. It’s actually very good compared to most high-end nail salons around Europe, and especially America, and considering the gel will last multiple weeks, $50 can stretch out pretty well.

A classic pedicure starts at $21, and the most expensive option is $43. That’s a steal – you can get permanent nail polish, a foot rub, callus removal, and friendly chatting for less than $50.

With two locations, one in Karlin and one in Dejvice, you can always easily find one of these two convenient salons for a fun atmosphere, a comfortable vibe, great craftsmanship, and low prices.

4. The Amazon – for the full beauty experience

For number four on our list, we have The Amazon. This salon specializes in not just nails, but many other beauty treatments as well, making it a one-stop-shop for all of your beauty needs.

With an experienced and educated team of about 8 people, you can be confident of always receiving the best service. all of the staff here speak English, so you can converse with your technician while they give you some beautiful nails. For a manicure, you have the choice of a wet or dry manicure.

The wet manicure is the most effective, soaking your nails in a bath, shaping your cuticles, and putting on the polish. The dry manicure is good for consistent clients who regularly ‘manicure’ their nails and cuticles, and just need some trimming.

After you choose which method you want, you can decide between Shellac Gel lack polish for a 2-week+ color, O.P.I. polish for a popular choice, Fluorescent Gel lack for bright summer colors, P-Shine for a natural treatment to give your nails some shine, Metallic Gel lack to provide a metallic shine for almost 2 weeks, or a French manicure for a classic and neat look.

A dry manicure is $15 for a classic dry service, $25 for an O.P.I. wet manicure, and $45 for a P-shine luxury manicure, which includes a paraffin wrap to increase hydration and circulation in your hands and a hand massage.

If you need your feet taken care of as well, the spa/wet, dry, and luxury treatments are all available for pedicures as well. A dry pedicure sets you back $24, an O.P.I. spa pedi is $34, and the most expensive P-shine luxury pedi is $55.

If you have any questions about prices and timing, the website lists every single treatment you can get, the price, and the approximate time of service – so you won’t miss your lunch date.

For great customer service, aesthetic ambiance, and quality work, choose one of these nail salons in the Czech capital.

There are numerous nail salons in Prague, all varying in decor, prices, and services. These are our top four choices due to the combination of high-quality service, friendly staff, professional attitudes, great ambiance, and prices that make it doable for anyone to treat themselves to a quick nail fix or a full set of gel.

Many of the other salons we’ve visited in the city were okay – they weren’t anything special, but they got the job done. The only problems that we have encountered were some inconsistencies in service, and that’s why they didn’t make the list.

The three we’ve named on this list combine aesthetic appeal with quality service, and stand out as the three best in the city.

For an all-natural and high-end experience, we recommend checking out Dominion. For a quick fix and inexpensive prices, head to Star Nails. For a combination of both, squeeze in an appointment at Nail Bar. For nails and other beauty treatments, head to The Amazon.

The best all-around option we’d say is the third since it has two locations, consistently has great service and work, has mid-range prices, and offers a wide range of nail and beauty treatments. No matter your choice on this list, you can be sure they’re going to fix your nail.

Grab a Pilsner, relax, and head on foot to one of these convenient salons for a long-lasting manicure and foot-healing pedicure.
