Terreiro do Paço during Christmas – by Catarina Ribeiro

Christmas shopping in Lisbon can be easy for the variety of things that you can find.  For the wish lists of presents for all the family, you’ll find anything from the most classic stores to the most creative ones.

Under the sparkling decorations of Lisbon, the city’s shops, stores and boutiques attract shoppers with the Christmas spirit.

If you want to find any other gift in Lisbon like clothes and accessories, you can always go to Armazéns do Chiado where you can find many clothing stores. In addition, there’s also FNAC where you can find a huge variety of books (there’s a section of other languages than Portuguese), music, games, video games, technology, and many more things.

The avenues at Baixa and Chiado (where you can find Armazéns do Chiado) at Christmas time, make you feel in the Christmas mood because they are colourful and bright. Also, at Terreiro do Paço, you can find a huge illuminated Christmas tree and take some pictures there.

Here I present some places for you to start checking things off the Christmas wish lists!

1. Fair Bazaar

Fair Bazaar is a new concept of a marketplace which gathers many sustainable brands of clothing beauty and house decorations.

Everything is resumed in the search for alternatives to consumption and mass production which rules the world nowadays. The owners of the store and of the idea thought “Why don’t we put all these brands together in one place? It’s a way to make it easier for consumers to look for and choose brands that have a positive impact on society and the environment.”

And here this idea came to life and they opened this store. More than 20 brands can be found here, like The Humble co. which sells toothbrushes made of bamboo with biodegradable nylon filaments.

In addition, the names of various celebrities and VIPs born during that year are also written down along with the big events. For example, anyone purchasing a tin bearing “1999” is reminded that the EURO was created as the unique European coin for the EU.
